Lloyds Bank credit card mess up DD

Options
Hello all,

Just a note from a unhappy experience.
As background, I have been 'doing' 0% stoozing and good credit card use for years (about 9) and this is the first time this has happened...

Long/short is: Lloyds 0% BT offer expired this month. They did not take the last minimum direct debit payment (just before the 0% period was ending).
My account sat in arrears, with late payment fee, etc.

I have just got off the phone from them now. They have no record of any direct debit change on mine or their part and the first person I spoke to has no idea why the direct debit was not taken.

Now, ok, I was about to clear the BT balance with the 0% ending. And they have refunded the late payment fee.
But now I have a mark on my credit record and a waste of time to chase them.

Will be speaking to their complaints team.

Annoyed.

Why? Don't you ever check any statements.
Did you not notice that the DD had not been deducted from the other end i.e. your current account?
My advice would be to check your statements in future.

It could be interpretation but I don't think your comment is very fair.

A direct debit that has been set up and used for a long period would be expected to go through, and by the time this had been noted as not going through it would be after the payment date.

The OP could have noticed more quickly potentially, to me it's unclear exactly when this was noted, but I'd expect the cc provider to correct the credit file as well as return fees and charges.

If they have made a mistake, then they can remove the late payment marker applied as a result of that error :)

Perhaps not, perhaps I made a mistake.
However it was not rude or offensive, so seems a bit OTT to get it removed.
If we aren't allowed any discussion and hang, draw and quarter anyone who makes a minor mistake then it becomes a bit too much censorship for me.

Discussion is beneficial in my view even if there is the odd innocent mistake.

Possibly but in your situation I wouldn't be bothered too much if it were removed, can't see any reason for complaint.

Luckily I've quoted it so it will live on in perpetuity.

Thanks for all for your replies.

Result after 36mins on the phone to Lloyds: credit file will be amended, late fee refunded, cost of phone call refunded and compensation amount to cover my time on the phone.

Checking statements is spot on great advice. That is what I did, hence noticed the error. I was annoyed that a mistake even happened in the first place and that I had to call to get a resolution.

Well done to Lloyds, for sorting it out really quickly.

    Thankyou. I agree.
Actaully I check a lot more frequently on line, so that's worth pointing out too.
