It IS issued at birth, but most children have no need of it until they turn 16.
If you need your child's NI number you can look at your Child Benefit for that child. It will appear there as a [/FONT]Child Reference Number. This will be their NI number when they have need of it.
So your CRN on that childs Child Benefit award is their NI number. It is one and the same.
And it will be the same as the reference award on their CTF. CTF is a benefit as is Child Benefit and DLA and for that they need a NI number. Its just not called that until they are 16."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0
