in Credit cards
Hi
I got accepted for the above card recently. I was going to use it to pay for a memory card from a Japanese website as it is one of Martin's recommended cards for spending in foreign currency (no loading on the amount paid or other hidden fees). Got to the checkout and they are putting up the currency in everything but Yen when paying by credit card. Theres US and Canadian Dollars, Brazilian Dollars , Euros etc. My head is done in as I wanted to pay in Yen. There is still the option to pay in Sterling but surely if I do this then I get charged some stupid hidden fee? If I pay in any of the other above currencys then this surely becomes a double conversion from sterling to say dollars then to yen. I am very confused as to what way to pay without incurring a charge which is the original reason I got this card!!
Anyone know a simple way round this using this card??
Thanks in advance.

To be honest, I would just shop from a uk source for something like a memory card
If you really want to buy from japan, I would keep looking for a site that allows you to pay in yen, but a site based in japan offering to let you pay in any currency other than yen would sound alarm bells in my head, but that's just me0 -
I suspect the Japanese website will charge you in Yen, it's probably displaying other currencies for information purposes only (after detecting your non Jap ip address). What's the website?0

You can only pay a seller in a currency they are prepared to accept.0 -
With so many fakes its worth buying from a reputable source even if it costs more.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Hi
The price for these memory cards is expensive. They are PS Vita memory Cards and the one I want (64GB) retails for upwards of £80. To import it from Japan its about £61 or thereabouts.0 -
Could you answer the question posed in post #3, namely what's the website?0

Hi
The website is called Nippon-Yasan.com. A heap of other people seem happy with them after I checked them out on a gaming website (the memory card I want is for a Sony PS Vita handheld gaming console)
I am a regular buyer off the internet and like to think I am pretty careful about buying from reputable sources.
Not sure there is any way round this. Its bloomin confusing either way.
Anyone still think I will get charged if I pay in say American Dollars rather than Sterling for this Sterling Dollars Yen conversion? To say I am lost is an understatement!!:(0 -

The website is called Nippon-Yasan.com.I've just gone through a dummy order and it was displaying Yen throughout...right up until the last page when it converted to Euros.
If you're happy with the final amount, after doing your own conversion to GBP, then go ahead. My only concern, as I said earlier, would be if they were applying DCC...but you'll be able to check this when you do your own conversion to GBP.0
