Suzuki Jimny Head Gasket

A head gasket can fail for a lot of reasons though. Lack of antifreeze or coolant. Can cause the engine to heat up more in some parts than others and warp.
Cold water in a hot engine, Or a faulty thermostat.
Its possible they would not know why the gasket failed. Only that it had with the right tests.
Its like me giving you a bucket with a hole in it. You wont have a clue why the bucket has a hole.
What started all the issues? Frozen to the cold? Losing coolant for some time?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
That's it I don't know had the MOT in Oct all fine and no issues. Then Dec driving it funny smell, thermostat went right up, engine warning light on ,radiator nearly empty. In hindsight I think the pressure cap isn't pressurising properly though the garage say's it is, but there is no hiss when I realease it when the engine is hot.
I am just so dismayed that the head gasket has gone again and I am sure it has. Milky foam in the oil plus loss of coolant indicates that right? I have never added coolant when the car is hot. Since I have known that it was losing water I have been very vigilant in filling it up.
My point being that how can you be charged £500 and be given a 12 months warranty and be expected to pay again. When they fitted the new thermostat 2 weeks after the head gasket they assured me it was fine and all was ok they even topped up the coolant at the same time and said there were no leaks.
Just want to add this time no engine warning light or temp gauge increase, so may be I am hoping it might be something else ........simpler....cheaper.0 -
If the water level is low then you wont get the hiss from a pressure build up. Same if its overfilled.
How often did you check the water and oil? Did the oil level ever increase?
When filling it, Have you been using antifreeze?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
the head gasket hasn't been fixed....you're losing water through your exhaust because of it.
IMO when the head gasket goes it's the beginning of the end, I'd scrap the car before it becomes a money pit. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Checked the water regulary since the head gasket failed last time but not the oil. New thermostat 2 weeks ago and garage checked it said it was fine then severely started losing water/coolant last week, froth appeared today but suppose it could of been in the oil for days or since the new thermostat.
Yes I have been using antifreeze when topping it up.0
