hi
in 2004 -2006 i had very bad credit and can't even open a bank account.
i didn't have credit card debit.
but i had some unpaid bills on contract phone, one account overdraft and it was closed by N.W in 2003.
and once i check in credit report in 2004 and i don't know why i had cifas on my credit report. but it was cleared after i think.
then i left the uk in 2008. and i plan to go back now in 2014.
i will look for new place to live in england.
i wonder i would still have problem opening bank account after i return to uk?
i am so sorry to my mess before but i want to start a business and be a good man.
plz advice.

The chances are it's all fallen off your report by now.
Accounts stay for 6 years from when they default.
Only issue could be if someone hot a CCJ for one of the accounts. They can do so for 6 years from not paying, so if they left it a few years, it would still show.
You can check for CCJs with your name and previous address at trust online.:beer:0 -

Those old entries might well have fallen off, but then you have a non-existing credit history with no entries whatsoever.
You maybe able to get a basic account, but you will have difficulties to open any account that involves credit (business account).0 -
actually i did that.
every column in the report of trust online are "Nothing Registered" does this mean i am clean?0 -

It means that there is nothing less than 6 years old.
Slim chance someone might have got a CCJ earlier and its fallen off.
but from a credit report sense, you look clean from CCJs.:beer:0 -

Don't bank with anyone you have unsettled debts with. They can take money from your new accounts. That may limit you somewhat.
Barclays should be ok as long as you have ID etc.:beer:0 -
ok i was thinking abbey national but it seems disappeared.
And any other things like default or late payment would still on my credit report?
i wish i can run a copy but they need uk address.
thanks0 -
Abbey are now part of Satander.
Defaults drop off 6 years from default date as does the entire account entry. Paid or not.
Don't know about the address, as I suspect go the card will need to be registered at the address you give.
James jones the experian rep may be able to advise how you can get your report from abroad.:beer:0
