Loyalty Cards - What's The Point?

Loving the Tesco Clubcard references from people thinking it's saving them money.
I don't think Tesco Clubcard saves me money on my food shopping, what does that is knowing a good price, buying offers, shopping around at different supermarkets, which I do. Aldi is good for some things, but there are some brands I prefer which I can't get there. I'd struggle to buy clothes at Aldi for sure, but Tesco is reasonable compared to many high street shops.
What Tesco Clubcard has done, as my credit card, is provided me with lots of bonus days out and treats as a result of money I would have spent anyway. Believe me, I don't spend more than I have to on anything! I'd have been mad not to taken Tesco up on the offer.

Tesco's CC via Avios have paid for the family, 3 of us, to fly to Orlando during this years summer holidays. We've had to pay £700 in taxes. That is not even the price of one ticket at that time of yearPrivate Parking Tickets - Make sure you put your Subject Access Request in after 25th May 2018 - It's free & ask for everything, don't forget the DVLA0

I have four:
Iceland - hardly use,
Gardening Club - can't go there now the place burnt down!!
Nectar -
Homebase - send me promotions, extra points + conditional spend which come in useful, I probably go there more than B & Q, but then again they are nearer!
Sainburys - go there sometimes if the conditional spend is worth it, otherwise don't think there are any better than Tesco - and besides their 'price promise' is only for 'Brands', though their Caf! are good.
Tesco Clubcard - had it for many years, I used to go into a Metro that was my local shop. Now I go to one of many Extra Stores, or Expresses.
Some, say use Lidl or Aldi instead - sure they have some items like Fruit & Veg. that are cheaper, they are small stores.
If you want shopping delivered, on-line orders, clothing, entertainment departments, etc. its one of the big three to choose from, only one doesn't have a Loyalty Card.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
I get a FREE, freshly ground, coffee.
I used to pick up a free copy of Evening Standard from the closest TESCO, and buy my Euromillion lottery ticket there, and incidentals like milk. Now that I get a free coffee from Waitrose, which also has the Evening Standard, I go to Waitrose instead.
So the card is doing what it's meant to do.
In You and Yours tomorrow, on Radio 4, they will discuss whether Waitrose's free coffee is killing local coffee shops.
I have my own cappuccino machine at home, so I very rarely pay for Starbucks, et al, coffee.0 -
The advantage is that it provides the retailer with a huge amount of information about what you buy, when you buy it, where you buy it from, what marketing promotions work and which ones don't.
Oh sorry, did you mean an advantage to you. In that case nothing that you couldn't get by shopping around and buying wisely.Free thinker.:cool:0
