Parking eye PCN wrong registration on ticket

Hi all.
This is my 1st post so please be gentle and apologies if this has been done already but the sheer amount of conflicting advice has made me post.
My partner recently was attending Sunderland Royal Hospital to visit a friend there who was on the ward and duly paid her parking in the car park..
Today, she has received a Parking charge notice demanding £70 (or £40) if paid within 14days....
Upon checking her car, we found her ticket, dated the same time (well 1minute after the photo time) but by accident she has entered the wrong registration of her car on the ticket... she thought her car reg started "WF11" when it is actually "WP11"
Personally I would tell this bunch to do one, but upon looking, we find she has done this 3 additional times on other tickets....so looks like she will get more PCNs to come!!!!
What is the best course of action as I've heard either
1) Ignore the letters - even the demands, but some then get tajen to county court
2) go through the appeals and then the POPLA route?
Any advice would be great as like I say, she is expecting more to come...

Go via appeal and then win at POPLA

So 4 charges - 4 appeals - and if you follow the guidance on here, 4 lots or £27 that PE will have to pay out as you'll win them all.
Do post your draft appeals. PE will reject, so get ready for POPLA - and win (4 times)0 -
Welcome to MSE!
Your case is no different from any on here which is why I wrote a sticky thread of advice called 'Private Parking Ticket? Newbies please read these FAQs first' and it is at the top of this forum (no link given - I never do - because newbies need to find their way around the forum or it won't work for you!). You will find examples of first appeals, and POPLA appeals that will win. Also in other sticky threads you will read about how to successfully complain to the Hospital Facilities Manager and/or PALS Office, to get this cancelled that way instead.
So I take it you missed the advice stickies at the top of the forum so far...do post here again if unsure later on, or when creating your POPLA appeal wording.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I would first of all appeal to PE telling them what happened. Provide them with the approximate time and date of entry/departure and ask them to check their records for the wrong registration.
Tell them that as they can see the driver complied and no loss was suffered so would they cancel the ticket. If not, then would they send a POPLA code.
Should the next 3 occasions result in tickers too, then I would appeal them all as a bunch first of all saying it is clear that driver was mistaken about red for some time and that each time they complied with time limits but genuinely got the registration consistently wrong.
If they refuse you would need 3 POPLA codes for these incidents.
Come back on this thread for help with the POPLA appeal.0 -
Hi all,
Many thanks for the great replies and apologies for missing all the stickies, a mistake on my part, but I appreciate the held so far... I have composed a quick 'appeal' letter to PE and wondered if people would just offer any advice on it so far.... ?
"Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing to you as the registered keeper of vehicle mark WP11 XXX to log a formal appeal with regards to the received ‘parking charge notice’ with the above reference.
As can be seen from the evidence included, a full and valid parking ticket was in place at the time of the allegation levied by yourselves, albeit with a small discrepancy in the vehicle registration mark entered into the ticketing machine by the person purchasing the ticket on behalf of the driver. As you will clearly be able to ascertain from your records of the parking area at the time of the allegation, this other vehicle was not present in the car park during the time and indeed does not even relate to the vehicle in question, thus I conclude, no loss was suffered on your part as indeed the parking fee was paid. The ticket purchased can clearly be seen to be 'timed' at the time the vehicle entered the car park and more than covered the 'exit' time as well.
Therefore in conclusion, I await your cancellation of the aforementioned charge which has no legal statutory provision nor enforcement. No attempt was made to avoid charges on the site and the fee was paid in good faith by the person on site, and again I reaffirm the point, that based on this, you have suffered no loss as a result.
I look forward to this being cancelled forthwith.
Kind Regards"
I have not made any reference to whom the driver might be so to stop them in that dirty trick, but is this appeal detailed enough or should I add anything extra?
Again, many thanks to all!0 -
Nope that is fine as a first appeal and has not named the driver; perfect.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I've sent my appeals and evidence to the muppets but no doubt they will refuse it. Will then do popla appeal but I'll be chuffed if they ever think I'm paying. They can take us to court. Granted the other is daft putting the wrong reg in but they can't claim for losses when we have a ticket paid0
