luton airport parking fine

I drove my wife to Luton airport, got stuck in traffic so was almost late! so when i arrived i decided to take the lane saying "drop off",
paid the 2 pounds into the machine and continued but could not see a point where to drop off so continued on, then found myself at the exit and heading out and away from the airport! So turned around and headed back and stopped right outside the airport where my wife grabbed her bag, kiss, and ran to catch her flight.
A few days later i flew back to Greece where i live.
Just received an e mail from my Sister saying she has paid a 40 pound parking ticket on my behalf.
Can this be Legal?
Do i have any chance to contend this?
I am guessing that the fact that it has already been paid that i have no chance to get it back.
Any help appreciated
Thanks.

Shame she paid it. Not a fine of any sort.

Lesson learned, read the stickies on here regarding private parking charges.

Appeal now as the notice to keeper has arrived, use this wording

    Dear ACPOA

As the registered keeper of (reg) I'm in receipt of your parking invoice xxxxxx dated xxxxxx. I wish to invoke your appeals process as is my right under the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012, all liability to you company is denied on the following:

    1) The amount being claimed is not a genuine pre-estimate of loss to your company or the landowner
    2) Your signage does not comply with the BPA Code of Practice
    3) You are not the landowner and do not have the capacity to offer contracts or to bring a claim for trespass

These points and others will be raised with Popla should you not accept this appeal, and you will be expected to provide a full breakdown of your alleged loss, and your full unredacted contract with the landowner.

If you do reject the challenge and insist upon taking the matter further I must inform you that I may claim my expenses from you. The expenses I may claim are not exhaustive but may include the cost of stamps, envelopes, travel expenses, legal fees, etc. By continuing to pursue me you agree to pay these costs when I prevail.

Please issue your cancellation within 35 days of this letter

    Faithfully

Ask her to come here so she can see the advice, she appeals with the wording above, that takes 2 minutes if emailed, or a little of time to print it off, then go to the post office and post it there, you get a free proof of postage, then wait for the rejection.

Once that arrives it will come with a popla verification code to appeal there, that takes a little longer, but everything you need has been done for you, read the sticky threads. If your sister cannot deal with this, do it for her.

I dont think i can ask my sister to do this, so should i write to ACPOA
explaining the circumstances and that i was the driver and that they must write to my address in Greece ?

There is a slip on the letter inviting her to name the driver, tell her to fill it in and add your address in Greece. They will likely try to say that's it's not serviceable address, but the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 doesn't say out of the uk is out of area. She discharges her liability and there is not really a lot they can do.

The problem is that they will likely ignore her letter and still try to pursue her. It would be easier if you just email an appeal to them as if you are her. Then when it's rejected you deal with popla
