They are now trying to blame me for not checking my bills! But why would I if I had never had an alert always asked my children regularly if they had a text to say they were near there limit and they never had one so had no reason to check my bill. Do they really think I wouldn't of checked if I knew they could go over there limit ! This is my argument!
Thanks,
Marcia.
I pretty LAME argument. People who don't check their bills FULL STOP only have themselves to blame. Being "helpful" doesn't change the facts and whilst pandering to your obvious need to hear what you want to hear it won't change them. I would add that you obviously not only trust Orange but equally your bank and all other companies you've given permission to dip into your account there, since you obviously only check that once in a blue moon.
Learn, move on and start checking and covering yourself if you want to avoid the same thing happening again with another organisation.
Agreeing to anything orally with a salesman over the phone without written confirmation of the agreement is a VERY common mistake too.0 -
I was never sent anything I was told when being pestered to buy a phone and contract that I would have an alert when my children's tariff was getting near going over. I was clear in expressing that I was worried that they may go over it and needed confirmation that it wouldn't as I would have a text to make sure it wouldn't go over! I was very clear of saying I can't afford any more than I was paying monthly for three phone contracts and they reassured me that I would be warned if they were near there limit so put my trust in them after being with them for over fifteen years. When I said sent them, I meant sent the phones. Where did they come from? And how were they ordered? Over the phone? In store? Were they ordered directly from Orange or somewhere like Carphone, Phones 4 U?0 -

And it still baffles me! I worked for Orange and I know that they have never had an alert service so just cannot understand why 2 people told you this. There are plenty of ways of checking usage so it's not like they couldn't have told you that.0 -
T-Mobile used to have a YouFix plan that would not let you go over the minutes/text in the plan - might be one to consider if it's still around.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0

Hi,
Apologies if this is on the wrong thread, and that probably this has been brought before.
Being a complete buffoon, I have only just checked a recent statement, which suggests I'm paying £22.25 a quarter to Carphone Warehouse. when i enquired, it would appear this is an insurance direct debit, I didn't know I had !, it seems that this has been paid since 2003 !!, however CPW suggest i contact vodafone, which I did. I have been with voda since about 2000 ish, apart from a break in 2010, went to another provider and than back to voda in 2011. the problem is Vodafone state they cannot find any records going back to 2003, and nothing prior to 2011? to provide the info CPW require, to mull over any reimbursement. Just wondered if anyone had encountered / resolved the same problem0 -

Cant help with the issue but you would be better off starting your own thread.0 -
bit of advice from someone WHO HAS been in the same situation.
Put EVERYTHING in writing to Orange about this complaint and send it via recorded delivery.
Contracts for kids ARE NO GOOD....NO MATTER HOW MUCH you trust them. Plenty of PAYG options that allow unlimited texts and calls.
hope that helps0 -
My wife was pestered into taking a contract from Orange being called up to 4 times a day.
I've had similar with 3 network, over a 2 week period they rang me 30 times trying to sell me another contract. I answered once & hung up as soon as they started giving me the waffle. Rest of calls I ignored.
They got the msg & the calls stopped.
Annoying I know, but your wife could have said no.
There are so many threads on here like this where the "children" are running up big bills on contract phones.
This is why it's never a good idea. PAYG is always the best option as there is no chance of running up huge bills.
Personally I don't think young children should have a mobile phone.
But that's my opinion!

OP, firstly don't worry too much about the people attacking you, every thread these days has the same people putting down others, they're just trying to make themselves feel better about their own sad lives, ignore them.
If you were told that you would get text alerts if the kids came close to their allowances then you need to prove this before you can start a fight with Orange. The only way you are going to be able to do this is call up as a new customer and record the information they give to you.Pants0 -
Dear All,
I thank you all for your replies.
Off to speak with Orange and see if we can get anywhere - I'ts got to be worth a go.
Will post back if we get any joy out of them and how we went about things if it helps others.
Regards,
Neil and Marcia.0
