Anglian windows - quality of product and fitting

Comments

  • All the big national firms are the same, half decent products which are then often overshadowed by poor fitting, annoying salemen or inflated prices.
We only hear the bad things, they have so many fitting teams, some good, some very very bad, who you get on the day is anyone's guess!!
Ask to see installations in your area, if you like what you see ask for the same team.
Have you got quote from a local firm? Same product quality, decent fitting, half the price, no brainer to me
    Good luck
  • I would suggest you consider buying the windows from Trade Outlet and get a local qualified Carpenter to fit. It will work out considerably cheaper and a better job.
    Try easyfitwindows.com or upvc-windowsdoors.co.uk

Just had a quote from them - started at £12k and ended up at £5.6k but want us to use their credit scheme 24%apr and you end up paying £12k.

Got cheaper quotes from a few local suppliers

if any other trade tried this selling technique they would be labelled as con merchants and you wouldn't deal with them , why do people bother with them

I can't comment on Anglian Windows, but if you want to compare products with other companies, I can recommend SSGE. They've done all my windows and guttering, have a polite no-pressure sales team, and great customer service.

I've had three quotes so far - a silly one from Anglian and then £3.6k and a £4.5k for seven windows and a front door - the lower ones where from local companies based in Suffolk. Got another one coming over tomorrow. is this a fair price. Only a small terrace house

Happy with the windows and doors, including fitting, from Anglian that we bought 5 years ago. As has already been stated make sure you get quotes from other cheaper sources and Anglian will usually match or beat them. Anglian started at almost £10,000 but eventually came down to just under £4,000 (supposedly managers special discount as sales figures not met for that month :) )

Size of your house unimportant, size of windows much more important.
Without knowing what size windows, what kind of windows etc. Can't really say, but it seems a ballpark.

Up above this thread is a is this quote fair section.
In there lots of us have put our quotes so you could check if you liked.
    63 mortgage payments to go.

    Zero wins 2016 😥

To be fair it isnt just tut Tradesfolk. The power shower Professionals do it as well.

    Think banking,finance,surgery,cosmetic surgery,breast implants,fat surgery,bent estate agents etc etc..

Not all windows are the same. It is imperative that you ask and have it documented which window system they will be fitting i.e profile, manufacturing and jointing method, who does the fabrication? etc..its all important. When i had my windows done i had three or four different companies come round. One promoted a bolt together system whos name i cant recall, one looked at me like i was mental when i asked about systems and clearly they just got cheap carp lashed up at the local upvc warehouse and flogged it for top dollar..the last one brought samples and brochures, had their own in house accredited fabrication plant, produced a full info pack in the post with full tech specs, drawings ,details and price and didnt power sell. The price was similar to the rest. They got the job, they did it well, the windows are fab.

    The system used was..

Of course any system is only as good as its manufacture and installation. There are too many bodgers and butchers around who think a strip of plastic and a bodge squirty gun are the answer to everything..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Beware of thinking you are getting reliable service by going with one of the big names. They are good for the initial installation, essentially until you sign the completion notice and part with your money. The after sales is terrible. I had a damaged unit in the back door of a rental property in December, they spent nearly a month messing about with quotes and one I paid then told me there was another 2 week wait. Appoint arranged for this Monday, there service technician had a case of Mondayitus and called in sick so they have bumped me back to the 4th of February. Absolutely pathetic and when you speak to customer services they say they tried but the local depot has said it's not possible, ask to speak to the local depot and they fob you off.

I have paid £150 more than the quote from a local independent who would have done this in 3 days as Anglian said they would void the warranty on the whole door set if I did not use their glass and had it worked on by others.

Absolutely pathetic after sales, and nobody to take account for the companies actions! Go small and local where you can turn up at the company premises if they refuse to act reasonably.
Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!
