Minisitry of Justice Online Test For AO - Failed Again!

But then there are thousands and thousands of jobseekers who ARE experiencing problems with these tests. The careers forums are full of them.
But could these not be thousands of people who are just not suited to the modern civil service?
I've done about 10 civil service tests for many grades, in different depts and the only one I didn't pass was for the Insolvency Service. It was about choosing the odd one out from patterns (easy at the beginning but by the end none of the patterns were the same!)
People can easily rehearse for competency interviews, they can have help with applications but assessment tests show your actual capabilities and judgement.I am Doll Parts

Isn't it obvious why I am angry? I can't get a damn job, that's why I am angry!!
Getting angry is not a good reaction. You need to work out why you aren't getting jobs, and fix the problem.
I assume that you've done a fair amount of mock / practice tests before sitting them for real, so how did you do on those? Did you identify areas where you were weaker, and are you working on them?As I say, the annoying thing was, even though I gave what I thought were reasonable answers, I was still knocked back.
It's perhaps worth pointing out that you thinking they are reasonable is hardly the point. But I keep telling you!!!! I have worked in various Civil Service departments for YEARS. So I AM suited to this kind of role.
Well, obviously you are not. Why did you leave in the first place? There is nothing aggressive about my manner.
There is, you come across as very aggressive. It's strange that you don't realise this. You do understand, don't you, that it's not you who gets to make that judgement?
Do you have issues controlling your temper?0 -
You're frustrated because you want a job with AO and can't get through, but they don't care about you personally. They have somehow worked out that these tests select the candidates THEY want, and that is not you.
The fact you work in the field doesn't mean that you match what they are looking for now. Frustrating, yes; wrong, not at all.0 -
But I keep telling you!!!! I have worked in various Civil Service departments for YEARS. So I AM suited to this kind of role. It's just that these tests are now making it difficult to get back in. By the way, EVERYBODY I have spoken to about these tests have agreed with me. So those of you who advocate these tests are in a minority. Fact.
Speaking as someone who used to manage AO and EO staff, there are a few people who have worked in the Civil Service for years and shouldn't be there. In fact, they seem to have the same attitude as you and think they are doing everyone a favour by being a public servant when the exact opposite is true!0 -

When did you last join the civil service? Remember the ethos has changed a great deal in recent years. You may not be the right fit any longer.camelot1971 wrote: »Speaking as someone who used to manage AO and EO staff, there are a few people who have worked in the Civil Service for years and shouldn't be there. I was going to post along these lines.
Of course the forums will be full of aggrieved people who haven't got as far as they hoped. Those who did pass, are highly unlikely to be posting and complaining.
The CS is changing beyond recognition when you look at all the stuff coming out of central government - attitudes, digitalisation, etc.0 -
I have myself worked for the DWP from AO too HEO.
Can i offer the opinion that you may have done well, but others done better.
Hence the 'cut off' for passing is set very high.0 -

That may be true, but there are many new types of civil servants who I have had to explain their own regulations to, and who seem unable to conceal their lack of education, training and confusion about the simplest of things!
Considering we had to do all things manually, and today's bright young civil servants have computers doing most of it, I don't think have much improved!
Perhaps civil service entrance should get back to literacy, numeracy and common sense - and rely less on these daft tests.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0
