Minisitry of Justice Online Test For AO - Failed Again!

I am feeling VERY angry at the moment, as I have just failed yet another online test for the Ministry of Justice recruitment for Admin Officer. The test I had to complete was the one where you are given four graded answers, A, B, C and D, and you have to mark then in order of how you'd behave in a work-based scenario.
Have any of YOU had difficulty passing these accursed tests? The annoying this is, I gave what I thought were good answers, but when I phoned up the MOJ HR today, they told me that I did not meet the "minimum score", whatever that is.
Isn't so hard now to get a job in the Civil Service? Why don't they do away with these damn tests and go back to the traditional ways of recruiting?

From my experience in the Civil Service and having been before several interview boards as well as being on interview boards, you would probably get asked the same question without a choice of answers.
Interview boards are costly and time consuming, online is cheaper, the CS is charged with saving money. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

The "old" way into the civil service was exams and then interviews. At least it was for entry at Executive Officer grade or above in the 1990s
When I sat them they were incredibly tough. To the extent the exam invidulator warned us it was rare all questions were even attempted in the time available.
You needed to get 75% in the exam to be considered for the interview stage. Even then only about the top 10% who passed the exams went forward for the interview stage.
I don't know what the entry tests were for Admin Officers, but I do believe A-levels were required as minimum academic background.0 -
Your reaction is rather concerning. I can understand feeling disappointed, upset, perhaps frustrated, but why does this make you so angry, and who are you angry at?0

I imagine the CS gets hundreds of applicants for every job advertised. Online tests are part of standard filtering process, both in the public and private sector.0

Isn't it obvious why I am angry? I can't get a damn job, that's why I am angry!!0 -

I have been knocked back AGAIN by these accursed tests, despite giving different answers this time.
Has ANYBODY managed to pass these accursed tests???0 -
I passed them first time but then failed at the face-to-face interview so passing them does not mean you will get a job anyway.

You must have been VERY lucky to have passed one of those accursed things. Sorry you failed the interview though.
I long for the day to come when these ludicrous personality questionnaires will be scrapped. Wishful thinking, I suppose.0 -

I realise that. Even so, I still think these tests are barmy and shallow and useless, and that they should be scrapped.0 -

Yes, looks like more than enough do for the jobs. They're not "accursed"You must have been VERY lucky to have passed one of those accursed things. Sorry you failed the interview though.

Why were they lucky? What about them just being good at the test and knowing the right answer?I realise that. Even so, I still think these tests are barmy and shallow and useless, and that they should be scrapped.
"barmy and shallow and useless"
They're a fantastic idea.
Maybe you should try to improve yourself or look elsewhere?0
