Do you have a dish already? If not, they will need to put one up, drill through the wall to somewhere near the TV point.

Best to have someone responsible at home -I've seen both sides of the coin - one very tidy, careful fitter who left the place tidier than when he arrived..and a second "cowboy" who damaged a wall by bursting the brickwork, left a dirty great hole in the internal plaster, drilled two sets of fitting holes cos he mismeasured ..and was going to b***r off without putting it right til I put him straight!!!!!

Mine needed to discuss where I wanted the dish placing, as he didn't think his tools would remove the old one. The choice was below the old one or on the front of the house (the option he suggested). However, he was able to remove the old dish, so no problem.

Also, I was able to ask him to route the cable through the old pre-Virgin , entry point.

Virgin wont install if no one is 18 or over at the property. Might be same for sky
  • I actually chased the Sky installer away because he wanted to "install" the minidish about 2 metres from the ground on the frontage of my property. I then employed an independent to fit the dish on the chimney stack of my roof and, several years on, I still think I made the correct decision.

If you aren't at home when Sky call, the dish (and cabling) could end up anywhere!

I'd definitely want to be there, only yesterday I watched one of their fitters simply throwing the cable over the roof to get it from one side of the house to the other.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

...that seems to be the standard method for installing multiroom if you want it on the other side of the house from the dish -they won't go in loft spaces and running the cable tidily around the facia boards seems to be far too difficult for them! The old boy opposite me has just had his mutliroom cable replaced because the old cable had obviously frayed due to the wind working it back and forth across his tiles -they just did the same thing again!!!
