Notify insurance?
A lady knocked my wing mirror this morning, my car was parked legally, and was empty. So liability is not in question. She's happy to pay to repair
It's cracked, so not just knocked back.
Doesn't want to claim, I'm happy with that but do I need to tell my insurer ?

In theory you should inform them 'for information only'
In reality if you aren't making a claim then few bother. Your issue is - do you trust her? Did you get pictures of it? Anything written down? What if her car was suddenly the parked one or she doesn't want to pay up?
I would get a price ASAP (if you are going to bother fixing it) and see what her reaction is.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Thanks, it was my partner who was there, with her dad so got a witness ( not impartial granted), got photos of cars and driver, note of details and summary of what happened. Getting quote today, but I see your point.0

I'm surprised that Hot-Shot Internet Lawyer Guest101 didn't know the answer to this already.0

Excuse me?
I did suspect this was the case and wanted clarification. This is not my topic of expertise. Clearly I've upset u tho.0 -
Why would you have upset me? What a bizarre assumption to take from a single sentence post.0

Sarcasm is hard to read. Anyway I wasn't sure, but I had a good idea. Sought advice and now confirmed0

Not "confirmed" at all.
Fivetide has mislead you.
It isn't a "theory" you should report this to your insurer, it's the reality of your (agreed) policy conditions that you do so.
Now you know, its your call. Any breach of your policy conditions allows them the opportunity to void the policy in future (though if you are a lawyer you know all that)0 -

I'm not, I think sinbad was being sarcastic. I will inform them, but for info only0 -
If the culprit change their attitude when hearing the cost of this ( if your car is going to be off the road whilst the repsirs are done, then they are responsible for all your costs, not just the repairs, eg car hire etc), then contact their insurer direct and ask fir their innocent third party claims department.
They will sort everything for you.0 -

Pedantry.
It was simply the way of saying it. You knew exactly what I meant as did Guest101.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0
