Old Orange Issue comes back to haunt me
Hello and thanks to all in advance
In November 2013 I was contacted by a debt recovery company regarding an outstanding unpaid debt with Orange dating back to 2012.
I upgraded my mobile with orange in December 2011 and moved to an unlimited data tariff. However a couple of months later I reviewed what I had been billed and was shocked to see a much larger amount than the monthly contract stated. I enquired and they said it was for Data charges. I asked them how could this be if I was on an unlimited data plan and they told me that because I upgraded a couple of days before the end of the month, there was a period where I did not have unlimited data and would have been granted a data allowance to cover this, which I then exceeded. They told me I will have been advised this in store, but I assured them I had not. They checked with the store and it turned into a my word against theirs situation. I refused to back down and stopped using the contract and advised them I felt these charges were a breach of contract and wanted to return the phone. This went on for quite some time with both parties coming to an agreement. I then moved twice but each time I advised Orange/EE of my new address. Eventually I stopped hearing from them and stupidly assumed they had dropped the matter.
Now I have the issue with this debt recovery company and need some advise on how to proceed. They say I cannot speak to Orange about it.
Any help is much appreciated.
Regards
Andy

I wonder what your expectations were when you hadn't reached an agreement with Orange and abandoned negotiations?
The current situation is a predictable result of that actions, and is much more difficult, if not impossible, to resolve than it used to be.0 -
Indeed I have learnt that Grumbler (apt name lol).
However just because an outcome is predictable doesn't mean it is right. I am more interested in what I can do about it. I am currently paying this debt so not to cause further action, but I would like to fight it at the same time.0 -

Have you got the form that you signed in store still?0
