I get Molicare Soft Super as I'm doubly incontinent and have a large bladder that sometimes holds on when I don't want it to so I need something very absorbent (and for some reason super is more absorbent than maxi). They did show me the different types that they offered when they did my assessment but I can't remember the other options now (other than them offering pull ups which as I'm bedbound would have been harder than the nappy style for us).
In our area (Gateshead) the contract has just been moved over to Hartmann, who only seem to do Molicare on their website, but it might be different in other areas. I found the nurse who assessed me really helpful and she went through my needs before choosing them, and changing them when I needed something a bit different wasn't difficult either. I can't see a downside to having an assessment done- if they can't offer something suitable you're no worse off, and if they can then it's one less thing to worry about.Purple Penguin Power!

I think there are massive regional variations.
In our area GP's have nothing to do with supplying pads. All supplies and assessment are done through the Incontinence Service by referral which could be a Dr. and/or nurse. There is a set pattern of delivery and you get what you are assessed as needing and no/more or less without being reassessed. You cannot have supplies without going through the Incontinence Service or direct from your GP.
The freebies must be going to other areas because you cannot get them here. Gloves are not supplied either, although they are in schools etc.
I'm not saying that people are not entitled to the wipes/gloves etc free but it just does not happen in our area.Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy - Anne Frank :A0 -

I think the incontinence nurse can be really helpful in supplying the items which meets your needs so I agree that it is worth anyone discussing their issues with them. There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. The free wipes and gloves etc. are supplied (without prescription so no regional variations in England) by the companies who supply your continance aids as a "sweetner" so you stay with them, all the large companies offer freebies.
I order my continance supplies online and they are delivered every month, Bullen healthcare are my current company. They get the 'scripts direct from my GP.
Here, the incontinence clinic place the first order, then you ring up and quote your reference number every eight weeks and an order is delivered, to last for the next eight weeks. It doesn't go through the GP at all. There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0
