Incontinence Wipes

Options
Does anyone know where you can buy inexpensive but decent wipes for incontinence care? Up until now I've been using Oasis skin care wipes from Complete Care Shop but though they used to be excellent they aren't now (have to chase them about deliveries, claiming items are in stock then two weeks after ordering saying they're not, lack of communication unless chased).

Ideally I'd get the same wipes as they work well for me but I don't mind swapping to a different type so long as they don't have added fragrance and do the same job. We've had to resort to baby wipes while waiting for a delivery and they really don't work.

Both my husband and I are autistic so we can only order online (we can't use the phone).

If anyone knows of a general disability shop that is decently priced for the random bits and bobs needed when severely disabled that would be helpful too.

And if anyone can give ATOS a kick up the bum so they'll process my husband's PIP claim I'd be very grateful. They got the form the beginning of August and he hasn't even had a medical yet (and it was only though a friend phoning them that we found out that it's ATOS holding it up). My DLA is currently covering both our extra expenses which when there's expensive equipment and stuff to buy doesn't work so well. Sorry for the moan.

I've bought items from both of these places, one was cheaper but had higher P&P, so worked out about the same. I've never bought wet wipes from either (only Cont Super Soft Dry Wipes), so can't recommend any others....

(The only wet wipes I use are:- http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00D4NC2ZG/ref=asc_df_B00D4NC2ZG16998447?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&!!!!!wwwetalecouk-21&linkCode=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=B00D4NC2ZG but they maybe no use to you.)

Could also try these (they sell Oasis wipes):- http://www.synergyonlinestore.com/

Also check on Amazon for the wipes you use, you'll be amazed what you can buy on there and sometimes cheaper than the medical sites.
  • I had no idea that you could get incontinence wipes,we just always use baby wipes.
Will need to have a look and see what prices are like.

Thank you. I do use Amazon a lot but some stuff is hard to find on there, and specialist shops tend to make it relatively easy to find. I used to just google but my brain is too mushy these days :)

Incontinence wipes tend to be a lot bigger than baby wipes, and a bit thicker. My husband finds them much easier to use.

Strange isn't it that when people are asked what the greatest inventions are, they always go for the high tech stuff. As a carer I'd say The shower, baby wipes, Aqueous cream, disposable gloves and alcoholic hand gel. And Jack Daniels.

If you are incontinent you can get free wipes, pads, alcohol gel etc from NHS.

Ask your GP to refer you to local incontinence nurse or see if they will prescribe for you direct.

I get all mine free so no need to pay at all

I was just wondering that, people get boob jobs on the NHS, which I think is cosmetic, so shouldn't wipes be available?

I get my pads free on the NHS but not wipes. I'm wondering if it's different in different areas as no-one I know around here gets wipes, only pads. I'm grateful to get my pads as originally I was buying them myself (thought it was a temporary issue and ended up not being, just like walking and then sitting). I'll ask next time I see the district nurses (they deal with my continence needs, along with other stuff).

I've bought a selection from Incontinence Choice, which arrived quickly. When I've worked out the best ones to get they sell them by case which will work out cheaper. I'm now trying to figure out storage for all these boxes of needed stuff :-P

I'm not aware of anyone getting wipes on the NHS either and haven't known it happen in our area for 20 years.

They will sometimes supply gloves but usually only for tube feeding and even then they say it isn't necessary and will only supply them if they are for paid carers.

The free wipes and gloves etc. are supplied (without prescription so no regional variations in England) by the companies who supply your continance aids as a "sweetner" so you stay with them, all the large companies offer freebies.

I order my continance supplies online and they are delivered every month, Bullen healthcare are my current company. They get the 'scripts direct from my GP.
