Hi All,
I hope you are all well. I thought I would update everyone on this case (Yes, it is still on-going over a year later).
I hadn't heard anything from anyone in a while, I had assumed it was case closed. However in recent months it has all picked up again...I had received more letters from Debt Recovery Plus, demanding payment, then demanding discounted rates of payment. I had ignored these, as advised.
This week I received a letter from a new party 'Zenith Collections'. They demand payment of £110 within 14 days (Now 6 days), which is discounted for the reasons they describe that they have bought the debt from Debt Recovery Plus for less and want to avoid court. I realise that Zenith are saying much of the same as Debt Recovery but they are saying that court and litigation are the next steps.
I wanted to ask the experts (as you were so much help before!), is this letter any different because it is from a 'Litigation Officer' and seems much more likely that the next steps are court. Is court the next step? If so do I need to continue to ignore before the court papers come through, or should I start communications as it is a new party?
I am concerned as ever, any help is greatly appreciated.0 -
dont be concerned, its the same company but a different desk
read post #4 of the NEWBIES sticky thread for clarity
then IGNORE once more0 -
Debt Recovery never owned any 'debt' in the first place to enable them to sell on. Just more scaremongering. An indication of the depths some will plumb to grab cash that doesn't belong to them.
Only the PPC or the landowner can possibly issue court papers - unlikely, but do come back if you get a LBCCC from either or real court papers from Northampton County Court bulk handling centre. Chances are remote.
As Redx says, continue to ignore. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

bear in mind that common phrase or saying
"how do you know when a debt collector is lying ?
when his lips are moving !!"
the same applies to the written word too0
