Ritz crackers or cheddar biscuits (the big mini cheddars if you know what I mean) with primula cheese squeezed on top. If you are really posh you could garnish with a tiny bit of parsley!
Pineapple upside down cake with the glace cherry in the middle always strikes me as being 70's as do brandy snaps for some reason.
ritz crackers - now they were popular with either primula or philly cheese then topped with a slice of cucumber or tomato. (actually they are still popular in Chez meritaten as a 'snack'). but being a little more sophisticated these days, the tomato gets topped with some olive oil and snipped basil leaf, and the cucumber gets some sea salt and white wine vinegar!
Have loved reading this thread, I was born in 1975 but most of these things were still going strong in my family get togethers until the mid 80's !
Primula cheese & Ritz crackers were a staple at my Grandparent's New Year parties as was the foil covered grapefruit
