UKPC in NI

Got a ticket on the window in Yorkgate (Belfast). Ignored it and just got the first letter from UKPC looking £100. Have read all previous advice just to continue to ignore and I am just checking that this is still the case?

  • Yes as there is no keeper liability in NI or Scotland so the only way would be to pursue the driver - don't do anything daft and contact them.

And search this parking forum for keywords 'UKPC Northern Ireland' which gives lots of recent threads like this with plenty of discussion about the letters being happily ignored.

If it was a retail site you should of course still complain to the retailer about this harassment but do not name the driver. In NI and Scotland, only the driver is potentially 'liable' for this drivel, so you never imply who that driver might have been, when complaining about the letters the registered keeper is being bombarded with.

  • TBH Coupon Mad, i wouldn't bother complaining to anyone. A retail park in Aberdeen has various stores, but the land is managed/owned by a landlord south of the border who are uncontactable. So the retailer would just fob the complainant off, with such pearls of wisdom as 'contact the parking company, and by the way can i interest you in our weekly special offer of 2kg of Persil for £5.00?'. It also wastes calories, when i could be at home watching Sky. That's how much i think of these leeches....

Which retail park would that be AberdeenTyke?

I'm afraid I have to agree with you..

My attempts at complaining to the store-managers in Aberdeen, Elgin and Inverness have not given me much confidence that they really care what happens in their car-parks.

Any time I visit a different Tesco or Morrisons I tell them that their signs are non-compliant.

Absolutely ignore UKPC, DR+ and Zenith Collections. I too got a ticket at Cityside, January 2013, not heard a word from them since last summer.

Ignore, Ignore and then Ignore some more.

  • Thanks everyone. I will ignore and update you all as this goes along for progress and future reference for others.
  • OK as promised I have now came home to another letter from UKPC with 'FINAL REMINDER' marked in red. States that failure to pay will result in them instructing a debt recovery agent. Continue to ignore?
  • Yes, of course you ignore!

Debt Collectors have no power whatsover, all they can do is write letters using capitals in bold red font.

Next will be the increased demand from DR+, then the reduced offer from DR+, then the further reduced offer from Zenith before they finally realise you're not a mug and give up.
