  • Does anyone remember this frozen dessert? I think it was called Charisma. It was a log (about the size of an arctic roll) with a raspberry sorbet core and a thick pure white ice cream outer. It was my favourite pudding at my nans house in the late 1980s.
Nobody else remembers it, and I've asked a lot of people :o

I still use talc. The ones from M & S are good if you like old fashioned flower scents. TKMaxx sell Yardley as well, probably giving my age away (66 in4 days:D)

I thought about that 'Viennetta' type roll but I realise it is not that. Unless what you had was not a 'manufacturer' product but something made and branded for one particular supermarket, if that makes sense ? :)

Sorry I just noticed the date on the quoted post oops. Oh well. :o

On a positive note and related to this thread itself:

Apparently I'm a tub of Instant Mash then. Funnily enough I've had some of this today!

I miss a breakfast-type rusk biscuit - can't remember what it was called or who it was made by but it was a rough square shape if I recall with the corners rounded off.

And those small little oblong Horlicks tablets which you could buy in a tin, as well as Pan Yan Pickle.
  • Pan yan pickle was delicious, I miss old English spangles and frys five centre bars.

Although its more snack/confectionery I miss:

Smiths Tubes crisps (similar to WheatCrunchies but just ready salted flavour and thinner/crispier)

Cadbury Spira choc bars (not too dissimilar to the more modern 'Twirl' really)

Those Beef Risotto we used to have occasionally in the 80's as in once a month, I think the Vesta one actually. That came about by accident as I had one elsewhere while out and then decided we should try them 'at home'

Oh fractionally off topic but if you look around via a search engine there are a few jigsaw puzzles available with 60's or 70's or 80's foods on them, although you may not want a puzzle itself the pic/pics shown in the listings may jog memories. :) This slightly reminds me of when I see something like "Open All Hours" or something a bit older as in mid/late 70's TV in a shop and I have been known to pause the TV to look at the products! :o :rotfl:

Hedgehog crisps (no they didn't contain hedgehog!)

That's a blast from the past!! My dad was a fireman for a Welsh preserved steam railway, and they had a colaberation with the hedgehog crisp people. I remember spending a weekend, as a teenager, going up and down the line, changing carriage at every stop, giving away free packets of 'hedgehog crisps'! The guard was not happy as his area was filled with boxes of crisps and he had to sit with the general public instead of his compartment.
Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"
