I can remember frozen cream -looked a bit like sticks of chalk in a bag.
  • Linco beer shampoo sachets. A fantastic shampoo / conditioner, and the sachets were great for taking on my travels.

Oh yes, and Chocolate Lovely's. They were also frozen but more smooth and creamy than a mousse with a floret of cream in the middle, I used to eat them still frozen while they were chewy.

And the original Golden Nuggets cereal, the stuff they relaunched was not the same at all.

And those pyramid shape blackcurrant ice lollies from the ice cream man, heaven on a stick.

  • Nutrigrain used to do a chocolate version, which they don't any more. They only seem to do the fruity flavour ones. They do their soft bake style things, but that's not what I want!

We had frozen mousses (sp?) that were mint with a waffer-thin layer of chocolate around the edge. They came in a plastic pot and the challenge was to try to turn it out onto a plate keeping the chocolate intact -- near impossible.

But Vim really did work unlike all these crap sprays we clutter our under sink with now a days ...

What did it work on though -- I just remember it ruining everything. It took the shine off the porcelain basin, took the shine off the enamel bath, took the chrome off the taps until the brass showed through. Also it would leave behind a white tidemark all over the place. Mid-century british bathrooms were just a sea of dull, scratched, powdery white awfulness. Good riddance :T :)

It’s not something that’s gone from the shops but something I’d forgotten about and stopped using, talc!
It was used when I was younger, by my mum. Then when I had my DD, now 10, I used it a lot with her as a baby. I guess when she grew out of nappies I stopped thinking about it. During the heatwave I bought some to give it a try to help with sweat, not sure it helped really, I was using it before deodorant. But it feels nice after a shower to dry off then use the talc. So it’s a favourite of mine again, and the bathroom smells nice after I’ve used it!

I still use talc. The ones from M & S are good if you like old fashioned flower scents. TKMaxx sell Yardley as well, probably giving my age away (66 in4 days:D)
  • Talcum powder has taken a huge beating on this side of the Atlantic.

Too many links to the female cancers. Now most of what is sold here is cornflour based.

I like talc under the breast on hot days. TMI, I'm sure.

Not just that, but "baby powder" is no longer en vogue. Who wants their baby to accidentally inhale it?
