    Oh yes, Izal.

Ah yes! . Remember them well. Best thing since sliced bread at the time when we were first married living in an upstairs maisonette with no central heating and only a spin dryer. At least they dried quickly hanging over the bath but was I glad to consign them to the bin when poly cotton arrived!. if I'd done the Prince Charles "woollen" test and buried them in the garden all those years ago they would probably still be dug up intact !

And what about Crimplene? Another miracle material at the time which has long since bitten the dust.

SpecialBrew, the red apple shampoo was Alberto VO5. I used it at uni back in the day.
VO5 also made a hairspray that had the scent of citrus, my then boyfriend loved it and the orange scented aqa manda EDT that I wore with it. Would have been in 1971.x..
  • Another Kiku fan here ..... I loved Aqua Manda eau de cologne in a funky dark brown bottle too in my teens and Mary Quant makeup.

Are Spangles still around? I used to be addicted to the old fashioned flavour version!

As well as Aqa Manda, they bought out a lemon version too, but it was a limited edition. x.

Nor me, what with the nylon in the sheets and pillowcases and the bri nylon nightie i wore from Pippa Dee i used to spark and crackle when i turned over in bed. I'd get up in the morning and my hair stood up on end!

Yes, there were countless photos of ladies at family gatherings all wearing patterned Crimplene shift dresses with self-tie belts. It looked like once you got to 50 or thereabouts, Crimplene was compulsory.
All topped off with an Acrilan cardigan...

  • OMG Crimplene, did you have to remind me!! I was a bridesmaid for my best friend c1970 and we wore candy pink Crimplene full length dresses. As I was a bit overweight at the time you can imagine that they weren't very flattering! And I still have some photographs hidden away to prove it!

Soap flakes. We've just found out that the one firm in England that was making them has stopped production for good ... :(

    Herbal essences spray hair gel.

The most fantastic-smelling stuff to use for dance shows and ballet exams instead of that cheap, nasty neon hair gel stuff in a tub that you get in barber shops!
