MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES

I work in a library and lots of people come in to look at old copies of The Times to get historic share prices. It's probably one of our most common enquiries.
The Times online archive has nothing more recent than 1985
250 free shares were awarded to A&L customers on de-mutualisation in 1997. I sold mine in 2006 for £10 each.
I tried to find historic prices in my Microsoft Money file, but if they are still there, I can't find any way to display them. Sorry.0 -
Thanks TIP, have Googled for it but the only info I found was that suggested by Non de Plume.
In the best Money Saving tradition I was hoping to get it for free !!
I can check later for you.
I owned A&L shares and MS Money automatically downloaded prices for all shares owned so it should have a record in there for various dates.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
The closest I could get was the 8th of October, from an Archive.org copy of Yahoo! Finance. (https://web.archive.org/web/20040109190936/http://uk.table.finance.yahoo.com/k?s=AL.L&g=d).
You might be able to get a value for 6th of October by visiting the popular stock quote sites at the time (Yahoo!, Market Watch, Reuters).0 -

Re: any decent sized library would have The Times on Microfiche. Probably also online too. Ours goes back to 1800s and we are a perfectly ordinary library.0
