I've decided to go super small and whittled it down to three - planning on buying new: VW Up (Move or High), Hyundai i10 (SE) and Skoda Citigo (SE).
Anyone have any of these or know anything useful about them?0 -

Citroen C3 Picasso, and before anyone says owt bout reliability, 60000 miles and not a problem, back seats fold perfectly flat in about 3 seconds and they are probably bout the same size as a mini but with loads more room inside. We have the diesel and we average (town and motorway) bout 50 mpg0

B: But I just had a look and the civic is not boxy enough for my needs.
Of course what i'd really like is a 1957 Chevy pickup so nothing modern, economic and reliable is ever going to make me really happy.
Ah a man after my own heart, may I recommended a left field option?

If you are not badge conscious then look at the Hyundai Kia and Skoda ranges. The Fabia is quite boxy and is a Polo in disguise but cheaper.
I was in the Canary Islands on a cruise over Christmas and the taxis out there were quite prominent in using Dacia cars and the driver's were raving about them. They are part of Renault now and you get a lot of car for your money.0 -
Thanks to anyone who contributed to this thread but I've now made my decision and put an order in for a VW High Up.
I test drove the Hyundai i10, which was nice on the outside but the interior was not my cup of tea at all. It was like the car equivalent of a DFS sofa. There was way too much going on and the colours were hideous. Fairly comfortable ride though, if that's what you're after. And much more spacious than I was expecting.
If you are looking at the VW Up, I've driven 2 versions of the Move Up - automatic and manual. The automatic was jerky and unpleasant around town so unless you plan on using it out of town only, forget it. The manual was great and very nippy. First away at junctions and did 80 quite happily on the motorway. I've actually ordered the High Up though as I'm going to be moving somewhere very hilly and felt the extra welly might come in handy. Now I just have to wait a few months for it to be built and delivered.0
