What email provider is best?

Hi,
I am fed up with hotmail despite blocking get numerous amount if spam. Rather concerned that gmail goes through your account to deliver advertising. What others are available that limits spam and advertising

Many thanks

  • I've used Gmail for three years now, and am normally very happy with it. I get very little spam (two or three a month), and see very little targeted or un-targeted advertising.

Don't sign up for their equivalent of Facebook - G+ or whatever it's called.

How much are you willing to spend for "the best"?

How about setting up your own domain so you control the addresses and can put spam & anti-virus filters on at the server yourself?
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

you will have to provide a few more details first ...
are you private / business ?
Do you want / have a website?
Do you expect lots and lots of email / web visits ?
    ................

Google domain name with web hosting ......

do not be to tempted with the very cheapest ..... they some times can tie you in / won't let you move your domain name.

Who is your BB provider ? many provide free web hosting/ email addresses

If you do decide yes then you will have to decide if you want to carry on with web based email or POP3 ( download) version ...... or pick one that does both :-)

Ideally you'd use IMAP rather than POP, increasingly so as people tend to have multiple devices accessing the same mailboxes these days.

Getting a domain and email set up is simple. You do need to be a little careful about lock in.

Of cause if you are concerned about the quality of the web interface then your unlikely to get as good as Gmail or Outlook are from this option. Likewise spam blocking isnt necessarily going to be any better.

I'm not with them, but GMX are supposed to be good ( http://www.gmx.co.uk/ ). Or you could just get a new outlook.com username and start afresh there.
