    Read your rental agreement and you will find that you have authorised them to take this money.


    You will also have authorised them to take whatever money they need to repair the car, for any damage which they did not discover when checking in on your return.

    You DID authorise them. Your agreement was your acceptance of their terms. I agree it sucks, but that's how car rentals work. You are being charged for their costs in providing your details to the authorities. Their fine will be in the post real soon now.....

    Well that's ridiculous because damage could be caused by someone else and they could just charge my card whenever they feel like it? Good luck to them as the card no longer exists.
