Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone can recommend any UK-based blogs/sites for clean eating veggie recipes please? A lot of them seem to be US based which sometimes means they use products that aren't widely available here.
I've been veggie since I was a child (I'm now nearly 30) but have only recently got interested in clean eating. My diet is reasonably good, but my main problem is that I have a sweet tooth and no willpower! Also I can be quite a lazy cook (there's only me and I have limited space as I'm in a shared house) so I'm looking for clean, easy and fast recipes with limited storage space and budget, not much to ask for I know!
Thanks

Ive eaten 3 subways in 2 days, was away from home and hotel was near an airport with no shops around. Never again am I going to complain about a £3 sub that includes a drink price wise, its a fiver in some other places.
I dont like quinoa, I did have a salad from pret a few weeks back as I had a voucher due to my flight being delayed due to fog and it was actually ok, but I struggle with it. Its the same as bulgar wheat and couscous, I just dont like the texture of it. No matter how good it is for me.0 -
I am quite interested in clean eating as I am trying to be more careful with what I eat in general. Avoiding processed, fatty, sugary food seems to be a good idea anyway.
I will do my best to avoid these but I am not giving up tea or coffee or my little bit of booze.
Thanks for the links I will have a quick look.0 -
Have been 'train dirt, eat clean' since earlier this month. Since mid last year I was training dirty and eating slightly clean. I found that no carbs at all did not suit my system at all so have a little most days in addition to those found in veg etc. at the same time I have been coming off prescription meds.
I have had light headedness, headaches and mood swings but that all seems to have stabilised now.
Can't afford to eat totally organic, but do as much as possible.
It has now stopped seeming like a diet and has just become normal to eat this way. Not yet managed to give up caffeine, but have cut it down drastically.
I feel much, much better........energised, clearer headed and stronger physically. I would rather economise elsewhere in my life than stop this way of eating. I am not a fanatic, if I am a guest somewhere I eat what is offered and don't mention the eating clean thing, but my choice is definitely to eat this way as much as I can afford.'Do not follow where the path may lead. I agree completely that it is just the normal way to eat once you've been doing it for a while.
I don't quite get the money thing though, it's saved me an absolute bomb now I'm not buying prepackaged processed foods. I find eating clean a LOT cheaper.LBM moment Nov 2013

I'm quite funny about textures too, I can't eat normal cous cous for this reason as I find it too 'gritty', but I've found some 'giant' cous cous (no idea what it's real name is, sorry! Maybe Israeli??) :owhich is nearer to the size of chickpeas and I can deal with that ok.
Thanks for the tips Broke Kitty and frances23, I'll check it out.
I've not heard of train dirty, *pootles off to Google*0 -
Yes, it tastes gritty to me as well, I cant eat cous cous and bulgar wheat and to me quinoa is even grittier.0

I think I've only had bulgar wheat in soup, unless I'm confusing it with something else. I'm yet to try quinoa, I'll be disappointed if it is gritty
I was thinking as a veggie that it's quite hard to get enough protein, but I think with all the nuts/yoghurt/milk/cheese I get enough, my only concern is that it's not very lean. I do eat soya beans fairly often (I buy them frozen from Tesco or Asda and chuck them in most things.) I also have tofu, but I only ever buy the Cauldron pre-prepped one; I'm at a loss for what to do with it other than stir fry it. I don't eat Quorn (it's a texture thing again!) so I don't have that as an option. I guess I'm quite picky!!:rotfl:0
