lol i just found this thread, my dad keeps chickens, and just received some ex-battery farm hens he rescued them. they are lovely little things but a bit pecky! our of interest do you name your chickens? Ive named ours Sam and Ella :-)Wins 2018: Ebook = £30

The three new ex-battery hens are now called Flopsy (floppy comb), Rosie (middle name of a granddaughter) and Thomasina (grandson's name, female version.
The older bantams are originally-named: The white one (guess!), The pheasant (sort of pheasanty-type fevvers), and The Mum (she had babies).
I wasn't going to name the new hens, but grandchildren insisted. Thomas thinks his is a boy.0 -

Well done cyclura, I love it when a rescue comes together!

Mine aren't really named apart from 'the paler one', the 'scraggy one' etc... although one is called Mildred Fierce, for obvious reasons (as my dog - a GSD cross - will testify!!)

me too, I have to put a sign on our gate though as people can see our chooks and the last thing I want is a visit from the RSPCA for mistreatment. It would be just my luck :rotfl:

Hi,
Have a couple of Warrens. One is not well. She has a fluid filled sack near her breast/neck area. We think she may be crop bound. She's very sluggish and breathing is a little laboured. She's drinking but not eating much. Her comb is red and upright.
Any ideas to help her. She's not laying anymore but the kids will be devastated if we loose her.
Thanks0 -
You can try holding her upside down and massaging the crop to get the stuff out, then give her some apple cider vinegar or natural yoghurt.0
