So the TV has been refunded. And the boiler problem was actually a problem with the regulator on the gas tank. The major house problem isn't sorted yet though. It's potentially a huge issue for selling, which we want to do soon. Meh.

Unfortunately it's a little more complex than that. One of the key features of our house is it's an equestrian property - we have stables in our grounds - except we rent the grazing land. After 15 years of consecutive rental, the land owner has decided not to renew the lease. This means our market has all but dried up, and although a nice house in its own right, I suspect this knocks a HUGE amount off the value. It also means we can't stay here either. We are trying to negotiate with other landowners nearby, but that isn't going well so far.

Anyway meanwhile we are cracking on with all the normal getting house ready to sell stuff. The current money leakage has slowed but lots of the house stuff requires outlays of varying sizes.

Still, I feel lucky in so many ways that I have decided to stop bleating about it. For now :p

But I'm glad I came on here as I just remembered (from the thread name) that I have a road tax due tomorrow.

Thanks SS. Hope life as a family of 3 is treating you well.

So I wrote up thread about a 5 year plan. Based on the issue we have with our house now, I will reveal that the 5 year plan is to own our own land. Not that my DH is that bothered, but he knows it matters to me. I am hoping we can still negotiate to buy the land beside us, but failing that we will have to move. Now I'm losing my rental field it accelerates the agenda. DH is on board, so meantime we are working through the things we need to do in the house. The list is massive. It's on my phone but will try to paste in here. We spent £270 at B&Q yesterday. New light fittings for kitchen, paint for external soffits and back door, paint for front door, paint for hall and utility room, etc. I've spent hours over the last 3 days painting our internal French doors which were bare wood. They are now white and look amazing but it took ages.

Anyway meantime I have to keep getting my debt paid off. The next few months will be interesting. Next pay will be about £600 less as no more tax credits plus SMP stops. Then in May I officially go back on payroll, but only for one week, but that should be more than my monthly SMP I think. June is back to full pay plus a small amount of bonus. I'm using up accrued annual leave so start back in early August. So just got to keep eking out the money as best as I can. I still have savings so if I have to deplete those a bit I need to replace once I am back on full pay. My aim is to have £4k left by the time I go back. That will more than cover the 0% card if needed.

Thanks Brizzled. It's a bit of a 1st world problem for sure, but the threat to our resale value is very real and huge and scary. Anyway there is nothing to do but keep trying to solve it!

Made some progress on the list. Couldn't do the lawn treatment as it was far too wet; horrid here all day in fact. Where is spring. :(

I never got around to calling the vet, but I did have to spend a fair bit of time faffing around with my phone. It totally died this morning. But NW to the rescue and, courtesy of my current account mobile phone insurance, will send me a replacement (actually an upgrade) for £75. Given I was thinking about replacing the phone soon anyway, this is very good news.

This is my current signature. I'm about to update it a little. The medical pay was for our last (successful!) round of IVF. DH ended up paying for the whole thing. He isn't bothered about getting paid back given I have been on mat leave. Also going to remove the other items that were paid off a while ago.
