Has anyone bought and is able to advise on a 10.1 inch
tablet based on the Allwinner Pro A20?
I cannot afford an iPad which would be four times the price!
thanks

A20 is a high integration chip, meaning its got dual core (2 times) main processors, dual graphics processors and various other chips all in one package that makes it cheaper to build a device with.
Its not too bad as it has dual A7 processors but these are not quite as good as A9's although they are good on power consumption - which if the tablet had a decent battery would suggest good on-battery life for not too demanding tasks like watching a movie, at the expense of being a bit slower. The dual Mali 400 graphics processors will help the interface feel reasonable but then without knowing more detail its only supposition, the tablet could be naffed up in other ways.0 -
One of the cheap tablets I was thinking of was the -
10.1" Dual Core Allwinner A20 Google Android 4.2 Tablet PC WiFi Bluetooth HDMI
Dual Camera.1024*600PX.1GB RAM.16GB ROM.Play Store.
This is eBay item number:350972065640
The seller's rating is 99.7% over 13040 feedbacks
Anyone bought one? There are relevant YouTube vids on these but although interesting they are rather superficial.
btw there is an Allwinner quad core cheap tablet but this doesnt have bluetooth..
10.1" Inch Capacitive Touch Google Android 4.2.2 A31s Quad Core Tablet PC 16GB -- Dual Camera.1024*600PX.1GB RAM.HDMI.WiFi.Play Store.
eBay item number:350941253900
Thanks

That's a disgusting resolution for a 7" tablet, never mind a 10". Avoid.0

Thanks for the replies - the resolution is poor for a 10.1 inch tablet.
But what has put me off now is the lack of GPS - that would mean I'd have to enter my location whenever shopping for anything etc. It could not be used with MyTracks etc
Any possible good alternative 10" tablet suggestions?
Thanks,

What is your budget?0

Under £150 would be good.
Just a mo, I thought all these Android tabs and smartphones had GPS - it helps advertisers and sellers work out how to pitch stuff at you ...

That's as good a starting point as any to review what's available for what budget.0 -
I don't know which cheap 10" has GPS...0

The best value 'cheap' android tablets are the Samsung Galaxies I think . I've seen them down around the £150 mark or less.
I bought a 'Google Play Pendo 7" Tablet 4Gb' for $69 Australian (About £40) for my son, as he loves mucking about with the touch screen on our phones but I'm loathed to hand him our iPhone 5 or my new HTC. It reports about 2Gb Storage space, not 4Gb (I don't know if they just add up the RAM etc to come up with 4Gb or what?!) and the resolution and screen are... not good. It's perfectly useable, and it all works. He enjoys drawing type toddler apps, and I locked it down and used a specific launcher to give it 8 big icons on the home screen and nothing else, so he can pick between a couple of videos and his 'apps'.
However, the screen is not of sufficient quality to browse the internet effectively, and whilst I'm fine with it at £40 for what it is, I really think you do have to spend more and get a brand name to get an acceptable tablet experience.0 -
Regarding RAM ... 4GB stated is 4,000,000,000 bytes. This equates to 3.725GB actual. Then some of the memory is used by the operating system (Android) and running apps.0
