Parking Eye Debt Recovery Plus

Hi all,
There are a lot of posts regarding this, so have registered as I wanted to clarify.
First letter I received from Parking Eye (Morrisons) was actually from Debt Recovery Plus, asking for £135, for "maximum stay exceeded". I didn't receive any of the previous letters, as described here on MSE, that come from Parking Eye directly.
90% of people are saying that it is "ok to ignore" the letter(s) as the ticket is legally unenforceable. However, this letter I have is from the debt collector.
In my haste, and probably prematurely, I called up the recovery plus and they maintain that "I must pay now". She even offered £108 reduced fee as a "good will gesture". I spoke to the Duty Manager at Morrison's but he says contact the recovery agency. I can't prove that I was in the shop that day, as my girlfriend and I tend to pay cash, with only some transactions over the last few months being on card (recorded).
The manager said that I could bring him the perhaps proof of payment in the store that day, but I have none. The receipts are long gone.
Is this safe to ignore, or do I have to take this to court?
Many thanks,
James

but if you are in england or wales please dont ignore any more parking tickets as the laws changed in oct 2012 ( POFA 2012 )0 -
Thanks for your quick reply. I found this link from Watchdog about it too. Was it filmed after the law change?

Many thanks0 -
I think watchdog was 2011 , so before the law changed , hence my reply
this 90% who say ignore must live in scotland or northern ireland
ignoring parking tickets is a bad idea for us since POFA 2012
so much so that parking prankster just issued a guide due to the thousands of court cases PE have issued
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4864999
normal practice is ignore debt collectors , sort it out in court
for new tickets, you take it to popla0 -
Brilliant, thanks.
Will have a read

None are saying that. No-one since a year ago when PE started to sue people. You've read old advice up until now - when browsing Google ALWAYS look at the date of the results, and on forums ALWAYS click - one click - off any thread, to page one instead. You've read old advice on out of date threads that could end up seeing you one of the thousands sued unless you follow current advice now.90% of people are saying that it is "ok to ignore" the letter(s)
Send a complaint to the CEO of Morrisons, with a copy of a Bank statement showing yourselves to be regular customers on many other days, who happened to pay cash that day. Email for the CEO of Morrisons is in the sticky thread about complaints, top of the forum, along with the other one 'NEWBIES read this first' which has a whole section about what to do if you are too late to appeal, and another post about Debt Recovery Plus letters. You could appeal to PE anyway and you could even 'rewind the clock' by naming the one of you who isn't the registered keeper, as 'the driver that day'... then they get to appeal and win!
This is all covered in the two sticky threads I mentioned. In the 'NEWBIES' thread I only link the OLD 2010 Watchdog video in the Scotland/NI section for obvious reasons.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Find another supermarket as well, never trust anyone who uses this company to parasite upon it's customers.
They will soon learn why the other supermarket company paid millions of pounds to be rid of them.
Funny, profits are down as well and I bet not one of the "experts" they employ has made any connection between having these scammers in the car park, the buy out contract by the other supermarket and their falling profits.Be happy...;)0 -
The manager is a liar, as the PPC are contracted to 'maintain' their car park by Morrisons. He's fobbing you off. But to be honest i wouldn't pursue this with the store - it's a waste of calories. DR+ are maggots and can be ignored, in the end they refer the 'case' back to their 'client' and do nothing. Proof of purchase is the CCTV of you paying on the date in question whether it's cash, card, cheque or pebbles. If you want to wind the store up a bit go back and ask the manager to allow you to phone the head office at Bradford, in his presence, and then go to town on his attitude with his superior. Me personally, i'd let the PPC take me to court. They would be thrown out as they are acting on their own and not on behalf of Wm Morrison PLC. Plus the "fine" is way over the top and not a genuine pre estimate of loss. After the case is thrown out you can then write to the PPC and Morrisons claiming around £15,000 in losses for stress, trauma, child care, taxi's to and from court, lunch, and a new suit. It makes no difference whether you have actually incurred the losses, because this is fantasy land and planet PPC. Don't forget to charge £30 including vat for every letter written, and £15 for every letter received. I'm a Yorkshireman and readily relish a fight or confrontation.0
