  • Morning everyone

So, it's been a few days and not much has happened tbh. I've been working, trying to get ahead of myself, and have upped my fitness challenge. I've decided to change challenge 5 from Fizz Free February to Fitness February. Mainly because I don't really drink that much fizz so it's a wasted and easy challenge. I've started doing some more exercise to tone up and hopefully it'll make a difference. I sure as hell hurt a lot atm so fingers crossed. But, as I booked our surfing lessons a few days ago Operation Wetsuit is now a reality rather than a desire.

I've also been talking to my mum who informed me that my grandmother would have wanted me to spend the money she left me frivolously and that although it's a noble gesture to put some of it away for Littley and some of it into savings I should spend it in Australia and work hard on the savings when I get back. Her theory being that if I don't do something when we're away due to lack of funds when it's sitting there would be a great shame. I do agree and seeing how easy it is to accumulate savings with the odd pence here and there I'll put the £100 into Littley's account when I've opened her Junior ISA. She has a trust fund atm and I believe you can change them to an ISA which I'll be doing.

I've also got to look around for a new savings account as my current one doesn't seem to pay out much interest. I had £800 in there for most of January and got a massive 77p interest for my effort. On that basis 12 months interest would only be £9.24 and I'm sure there's better deals to be made elsewhere - anyone got any suggestions?

That's all really. I'm picking up my lady today, got another driving gig tomorrow for a different one so that's a few extra quid to the pot. I've also put a few books on ebay. I've been trying to sell them individually but have been recommended to put them up in author batches. Worth a shot.

Think that's it. Considering I said at the beginning not much has happened I appear to have warbled on for quite a bit!

Have a good day everyone :) xx

  • Morning all

This morning I realised that as I won't be using my credit card when I'm away I shouldn't include it in my savings total any more. I have been using a 0% interest card for bookings in Australia - more for the extra protection than anything. This hasn't reduced the money I've saved too much but it's something I'm glad I thought about now rather than later.

I've also had a check of my debts and they are still going down nicely so that's a great relief. Obviously they're not going down as much as I would like but I will be throwing more at them when I get back.

It's the last week of school before the holidays - thank heavens!! - and so I need to get heaps of work done this week to ensure I can spend time with Littley next week. It's going to be a long, tiring week!

Have a good day everyone :) xx

  • Hi everyone

A rare weekend update on here but haven't updated in a few days. Have also noticed that not many people who's stories I follow have posted either so not sure if it's that lull in the year or if people have just stopped. However, Fortune Smiles - thanks for liking my thoughts. Although it's good to just write things down it's also nice to know someone is reading them!

So, yesterday was Fri 13th so a day to be wary of accidents. Picked Littley up and even if you're not superstitious you'd be surprised how many things broke or got lost at her school. My day however was fantastic! I went to a coffee morning at her school & appear to have got myself onto the committee for the PTA there which, if I'm honest, I'm actually excited about!

I also got a call from the mystery shop company offering me more work on a regular basis - working out at an extra £60-£70 per week. This really made my day as my main client still isn't sure what's going on with their new bosses yet and so there's still a chance I may lose that contract. If it goes I should be ok thanks to this contract & the one I got just before Christmas. If I don't lose the main contract that's an extra wad of mullah to build up the emergency fund and put towards debts. Either way I'm all good.

I'm also now only £39 away from my target for spending money on holiday which is brilliant. With my £10 a day target I should still have about £400 to save so the fact I'm so close is amazing. I'm now debating whether to put that extra money to the holiday or leave it in the account incase a bill I've forgotten about raises it's head. Or I don't get paid on time or something. I'll probable split it actually.

Well, I've a lovely cup of tea waiting for me so I'm off. If anyone does read this do say hi, it's nice to hear from you.

Have a good day everyone :) xx

  • Morning guys

Thank you for the praise Fortune & thank you for subscribing stepuptothepl8.

Today I was in the lucky position of going on the computer to do my work and seeing that I had done it all last week. Great news as only have the mystery shop and the driving job to do this week meaning more time with Littley.

So with that in mind have a great day everyone!! :) xx

OMG Fantastic job - well done. So when are you off? I am sure you are getting really excited and you have done so well. Yes you are right about some of us not updating regularly - I think it is called running out of steam????

You have done such a brilliant job and I am so looking forward to hearing all about the trip when you come back as it is a place that I really want to visit.

I am planning to update my diary today but had to pop on here and say I think you have done amazing. xxx

I'll take the woop woop and the OMG with a gracious smile and an I KNOW RIGHT!?!?!? lol

We're off in 5 weeks and I really thought I was going to still be saving the day before but (un)fortunately I got that money from my Grandmother & my mum encouraged me to use some of that. Saying that, it was only a couple of hundred that I threw towards the holiday but it helped.

Yes Magsnoodle, I do think it's running out of steam which is a shame as everyone had such high hopes and dreams and I think if I can keep going anyone can.

Have a great evening everyone :) xx
