Does anyone else have issues with MBNA (Virgin Atlantic) blocking their card for "security?" This seems to happen all the time, it's happened to me 3 times in 2 weeks. Each time I call I get a different answer. Tonight I was told that Fraud is closed and they wouldn't be able to remove the block for at least an hour. I have 3 complaints pending, next stop Financial Ombudsmen.

The ombudsman won't entertain a complaint from you until you have exhausted MBNA 's complaints procedure.0

It depends on your circumstances but if that were me I'd close the account. I did this a couple of years ago on one of their accounts, they contacted and asked what they could do to stop me closing it, got I think £20-£30 and then shut it down anyway. This does depend on you having sufficient alternative cards and what you owe but in my experience mbna are fine on a day to day basis but every poor on customer service when they do screw up.0 -
We have the Virgin Atlantic Amex Card from MBNA and have never had the card blocked for security.0
