Parking fine

Hi i wonder if someone could help me please. my son parked his car in a furniture store car park, he was gone around 5 minutes. when he returned someone was taking photos of his car and a ticket was put on his car. when my son spoke to this man and said he had only been gone 5 minutes the man removed the ticket and walked back to the store entrance and said you are still going to get fined. we hadnt heard anything until a letter arrived saying my son never paid the discounted price of 60.00 and should now pay 100.00. i phoned and explained this to the operator of this company and she said i should reply by email to appeal. i explained what had happened but they said they have photographic evidence which they sent a photograph of my sons car and there officer did not take the notice off and he has to pay the 100.00 if not he additional costs will incure. i have requested cctv of my son entering the car park and of my son talking to the officer but have had no reply back yet. And they cant even spell my sons surname properly. Hope someone can help as not really sure what to do next and havent named the company as not sure if im allowed on this website as its all new to me. thanks

its a parking charge , not a fine , issued due to him breaking their "rules" in a private car park

    now read this https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822

that tells you all you need to know , especially about appealing it , especially for england or wales

you should wait for the NTK to arrive , if it hasnt already arrived, then appeal it to the PPC ( maybe the letter you got recently is the NTK ? )

    you can name the ppc
  • Hi thanks for replying. not sure what a NTK is and the company is Approved Parking Solutions. My son would of paid the discounted price but because the enforcement officer took the ticket off and walked back into store he had no paperwork to pay this. Very frustrating as cannot prove this only threw watching cctv.

the list of acronyms is in that thread I asked you to read ;)

please do as people ask if you require help

that PPC is in the BPA list and it says so on the website, so appeal it and get a popla code, then appeal at popla

NTK means Notice to Keeper. If you get one it means the parking company have asked for the registered keepers details from DVLA.

Sorry - didn't spot that ( I struggle with the big blocks of unformatted postings ! )

    I'll edit my first post.

    .

same here, took me some time to work out what was going on in post #1 myself before my original reply , no idea why its all in one long paragraph like that

a few carriage returns (new line) would not go amiss there ;)
  • The letter is headed as a Parking Contravention Enforcement Notice?
As i said this is new to me so not really sure what im doing

Have you tried contacting the car park owner? if its a single car park attached to a single store then you may be in luck in getting this ridiculous charge cancelled.

another helpful clue would be as to why the ticket was issued in the first place.
    From the Plain Language Commission:

  • Hi thankyou for replying. Yes i will try and contact the car park owner. It seems to be the enforcement officers word against my sons. To take the ticket off and walk back to the store entrance and wave the ticket to my son just seems so underhand and appears there just after as much money as they can get.
