Which is why people knowing this on MSE advise it's well worth pursuing a complaint to the FOS.
Bearing in mind the management time involved with dealing with the FOS it is a likely outcome a company will take a business approach to a complaint and nip it in the bud by making a goodwill gesture to the client. Far better business than allowing a complaint to escalate at far greater cost.
And this is a moneysaving, revenge getting website!!0 -

revenge is such an ugly word when it is used fraudulently to obtain funds.
I wonder how many self employed people in other industries/professions have put in fraudulent/try-it-on complaints but would be the first to complain if the same thing was being done against them by their clients.
Against the faceless banks, you can see the point. Especially given their poor record. However, against small local firms that is just unfair and nasty.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

I would advise you that lying for financial gain has a name - Fraud0 -

None as they would end up in court and possibly do time for it !0 -
Where has anyone advocated fraud/lying? Certainly not me
If you are unhappy with the way the fos works take it up with them.0 -

You quite clearly posted that complaints without merit should be referred to FOS on the basis 'which is why people knowing this on MSE advise it's well worth pursuing a complaint to the FOS.
Also your comments regarding revenge - sorry to spoil the party but I do not agree with consumers being encouraged to make false claims that's all. You and certain area's of the site are guilty of this and that is a fact.0 -
dont you get25 free complaints a year, I know we do.0

No I don't encourage "false" claims at all. There are no "claims" involved, but "complaints" - it is up to the FOS to decide whether or not a complaint is upheld.
It's your opinion that complaints against you are without merit - but you would say that of course! Fortunately the FOS are there to decide impartially.
Please show me where I have encouraged false "claims" (or "complaints")!! Or retract the accusation.
We are entitled to make a complaint if we feel we have grounds to.
The procedure encourages complaints to be escalated to the FOS if we aren't happy with the response.
The FOS don't charge the complainant, so they have nothing to lose by escalating their complaint, except the cost of a stamp.
All the cost of the service goes on the company.
A company facing a FOS adjudication knows the high cost (win or lose), thus can make a business decision to save that cost by making a goodwill gesture.
Nothing wrong with ensuring people are aware.0 -

I can say that as my operation was highly compliant and has never had one complaint against it upheld and believe you me there have been many.
The thread is regarding pre regulation sales and I have stated what evidence I have supplied such as call recording and documentation and I have this on every sale ever made in 13 years.0
