I don't know about now but in the distant past it used to be possible to get cheques that one had issued returned after clearing. These at the very least were stamped with the details of the bank branch at which they were deposited.
I assume that these days in case of dispute one could get an image of a cheque. Would that bear any information that would breach DPA?0 -

Unlikely due to this reason. Generally cheques will have a codeline imprinted on them which contains a bank-specific cheque identifier, rather than a sort code and account number.
If they didn't, and the cheques contained the crediting sort code and account number, then the bank could be justified in refusing to issue a copy as it contains details of another person. Could. This is far less settled than the above debate was.urs sinserly,

Funnily enough even without having worked in a bank branch I know you can pay in a cheque on someone else's behalf. However I also know you need the account number and sort code.

Is this meant to say that "storming" is acceptable behaviour. If it is, then a cashier denying you access to the card for a period seems perfectly reasonable punishment. Also I've never had a cashier suggest sending a new card in response to a report that a transaction had been declined. However, on the other hand, I don't bank with Santander any more given poor service received from them in the past (like not being able to locate my savings account - when I did have the account number etc). I haven't even been temped by the 1-2-3 account benefits.

I'm still surprised that she left frustrated. Surely if she used to work there and presumably knows how things work, she'd know exactly to expect difficulties like everybody else. No doubt she had frustrated customers when she worked for Santander and knew she could do nothing to appease them, so why would it be different for her?
It sounds (can't tell, mind) to me like she expected privileges or an easier ride because she used to work there.0 -
