I know this thread is a bit old, but hoping someone might see it.. we are considering installing one of these as well.. just debating whether we should do it ourselves? Hi debt,
If it's the Drimaster Heat and that price is inc vat then it is not a bad price .
That is about the price I charge.
You can buy one supply only for around £350, you might save a couple of quid shopping at Amazon or Ebay, BUT remember if you have any issues with the unit then good luck with sorting it out!
Depending where you are a sparky should fit it for around £100 - £150
However with the saving comes a couple of drawbacks
1. In the unlikely event that there is a problem with the unit (and it is unlikely), it is down to you to sort out with Nuaire (they are a very good company)
2. If the unit doesn't perform as you expect AND you bought it from a reseller on amazon or ebay, you're on your own
So basically if you buy the unit from a reputable installer you're more likely to get peace of mind and aftersales service.

i have just experienced a moldy wet patch in the corner of the bedroom & was very shocked on finding it.
What i did was pull the cupboard away from the wall , peeled the wall paper back as far as i could without ripping it & then sprayed with a diluted bleach a few times & wiped clean over a few days with the odd light diluted bleach spray on to the wall & let it work & dry on its own accord , the carpet & the back of the cupboard had also been attacked .
In the meantime i have now got the central heating set to come on at about 15+in the night , then in the morning i ventilate the bedroom for a few hours & let the air circulate for quite a time,
Its a trial & error way of finding the best solution for yourselves , if its a big problem all over the house then further action you will have to be taken , in my case everything as dried out very well & that im on top of it , i will have to glue the wall paper back down & most important thing in this is keep the furniture at least 3" away from the wall etc , so that there is a air gap all the way round.
Because its a mild day today i will leave the window partially open & close at tea time , the radiator valve will be on a low setting & might not even come on.
I hope this helps before you spend any money.0 -
I'm confused if I should buy the drimaster 2000 or the 365? Our house gets really warm in the summer (it's upside down so the living rooms are at the top) and we can't leave the windows open because of the house insurance. We also live in Devon so it can get quite warm.
1.Will the 365 with its external air supply in warm weather have any cooling effect on the house?
2. I guess that in June/July the 2000 unit will switch off during the day because the loft will get above 24 degrees. Will the 2000 model switch back on in the summer evenings or is the temp in my loft likely to stay above 24 degrees?

Depends on your budget and what you ultimately want Audio,
If your main concern is to control the condensation problem in your home and nothing else then go for the Drimaster 2000 as it's cheaper.
If you do want additional cooling in summer then go for the 365. However you must appreciate that whilst the 365 is an exceptionally good unit the 'cooler' air is only drawn from the outside and is a 150mm diameter outlet, so yes it will have a cooling effect to some degree but don't expect too much.
The main benefit for this is that the air coming in is filtered.
So yes it will have an effect, but don't expect it to be anything remotely like air conditioning.
Based on my experience in summer (I have a Dri 2000) some nights in summer the unit will kick back on, on much warmer nights it won't

Thanks very much for your advice. Whilst cost is a factor, I really want the right unit and I guess that on a really hot day I can use the boost switch that would be fitted along with a Drimaster 365, that should at least provide an air change and make the upstairs more comfortable. Wish we could open the windows but not really practical.
We don't really suffer with mould but we did in the past and the house is in need of something. It was tested by Envirovent and the RH was 66% and 68% upstairs and down at 20 degrees. The house is musty and we get a good inch of condensation on the windows and a light mould sheen on some furniture in the cold spots now and then. House is mid 70s, double glazed and has recently had cavity and loft insulation.
My quote for a 365 all in fitted with wall input vent is £940 which is ok but not great. I don't want to install myself as I can sometimes be a little clumsy!!!
Thanks again for your help

Hi audio,
Not the cheapest quote BUT a 365 can be a real pig to fit and they will be putting a core through the wall which can also be a real ballache.
Why not just ask them if they can do anything with the price or at least round it down to £900
Don't take much notice of the Envirovent salesman waving his humidity meter around the RH in a property changes all the time!
And apart from that you know there's a condensation / ventilation problem alreadyThe advice I give on here is based on my many years in the preservation industry. I have one, best thing I ever did.
Mine is fitted in the ceiling at the top of the stairs, my son, who is an electrician fitted it.
Before I had it installed I had condensation on all windows every morning, not helped by the fact I dry clothes of the radiator.
Also lots of black mould in the cloak cupboard in the hall and also in the corners in the bathroom. Some of the clothes in my bedroom wardrobe used to have mould on them too.
Since fitting it, it's been fantastic, hardly any condensation on the windows now, only a little, to be expected when it's freezing outside.
Also, more importantly no black mould anywhere.
It takes air from the loft and circulates it around the house so there is constantly air moving so no chance for mould to grow.
It's very quiet, and has different settings I just have it on medium, it makes a slight noise but nothing you'd notice.
Only downsides are:-
It is noticeably chillier in the hall and on the landing than it used to be as it is blowing air from the loft. But we don't spend time in those areas so it doesn't really matter to me.
Also my youngest son he thinks it smells of "loft" when he comes in the front door, a little musty. I can't say I've noticed it, but a plug in air freshener works a treat.
I would say go for it, also the coolness on the stairs in the summer makes it a good place to cool down!!0
