tax rebate after voluntary redundancy

Hi just joined my husband took voluntary redundancy after 15yrs wit same emplyer. :e has never had a tax rebate of any type in fact in all he's workiing life. He wants to apply for jobs but beore he left company they said ifhe worked 3 wks no sick or lateness he would get £2000 as wage and bonus as he got this after he's p45 he paid an eyewatering £800 tax!! He has been advised by mate not worth working until after April Can someone plz advise on when how to apply for tax rebate he must be due one after 15yrs! thxs

Just because he has worked for 15 years does not mean he is entitled to a tax rebate. You could work for 40 years and never have one if you have been paying the correct amount of tax for all that time.
If he is due a rebate of any kind, he will get it automatically sent from the tax office.

Without knowing the earnings figures, tax paid figures, tax code and what is happening between now and tax year end it is impossible to say what the tax position is.0

If he claims contribution based JSA, this is also taxable so will reduce the refund due0
