Figuring out if a credit card would be good to pay rent with

Hi Guys,

I am in full time employment where i am currently being paid weekly and was thinking if using a credit card from my bank would be a good idea where i can pay rent and bills via a CC and pay it off weekly top help get the most out of my cash flow.

Looking forward to hearing all your advice :-)

Thanks!

Would be OK, but don't you cant set up Direct Debits from a CC, so depending on which companies you use, they should charge you more for not paying by DD. :)

Check first if your landlord accepts CC payments and the bills can be paid by a CC.

he means not all bills will allow you to use credit cards to pay them, and nor do landlords (some might, but not all of them)

so getting a credit card wouldnt be useful if you can't actually use it

For utilities it's usually a discount for paying by a DD, and CCs aren't accepted regardless.
  • So basically having a credit card to help pay for utilities and rent is a no go then?

There are some exceptions. E.g. some councils accept CC payments.
[STRIKE]Road tax [/STRIKE]can be paid by a CC without extra charges. So can TV license.
  • Thanks a lot! Was looking at using a credit card to use for my cars expenses such as insurance, tax and possible repairs. Just looking at ways to help mine and my mrs cash flow for when we finally move.

Are you sure? I thought there was a charge (either 2.5% or £2.50 can't remember) for credit cards but not debit cards.
