I've never had a problem with FD, had a five figure sum transferred in without question, paid five figure sums out with no problems. Never been put through to an Indian call centre but I mainly use the internet and local HSBC branch.

Many thanks for the replies 99% of them were very helpful, the 1% was this one below.
alanq's response was superb advice. Instead of writing acid responses, you should use your time reading the T&Cs of accounts that you are contemplating to take out. For a very simple reason: it is the T&Cs that govern the operation of your account. What somebody told you on the Internet may or may not be in line with the T&Cs but it's quite irrelevant because all banks operate by their T&Cs - to which you agree when you take out a bank account.

So it is in your own personal interest if you read and understand them. You'll find they aren't very difficult to understand, give it a try.

having quickly looked over the T & C's i still did not find an answer to Q1 about how much i can withdraw daily, fortunatly the kind people on here have answered that for me.
    this is an acidless reply.

It's clause 18.2 in the T&Cs. This will show you that nobody but FD will be able to tell you your daily limit for definite.

Hint: you can press CTRL+F on any webpage and then search for things. E.g. there are 24 occurences of 'withdrawal' in the document.

That was my experience in my 6 months with First Direct.

They did offer me the ATM doubling on one occasion but as I wanted more than 1K and £100s so as to not look like a crack dealer with a clump of BoE £20 notes :D

    Rubbish.

Never had an issue in over 20 years, and I have had large amounts sorted in minutes while stood in a HSBC branch waiting. Also, I have had my card limit temporarily increased on a number of occasions, to withdraw up to a grand out of a HSBC machine.

    :-)

A-B the snag is, searching successfully in a doc rather depends on the searcher spelling correctly. Looking at the thread title it probably wouldn't have worked for the OP. ;)
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

You are doing it again, chili. Instead of figuring out how not to make 2 spelling mistakes in one single word in future, you are making an acid, and threatening sounding, post. You are doing yourself no favours. Sad.
