I got it installed yesterday for £199 plus £30 installation, because i've been with them for more than 6 years. That's the most discount you can get.

Have you been with them for more than 6 years constantly, with no breaks inbetween? If so, you'll get it for £199 + £30 install.

After waiting almost a month for the TV to come back into the shop, it got delivered at the same time as the man from Sky was here! We now have a 50'' plasma with a 1000w home cinema system. It's great. I'm now broke and i've lost track of the days already...busy playing with our new toy and fighting the kids for the remote controls!! :D

I had to e-mail a picture of it to dh. He left yesterday and won't see his new baby for over a month. Shame. ;)

I need to tidy the wires. :o

    few tips :

your left and right speaker are too close together...they need to be further apart to create the correct sound image...

You shouldnt put your plamsa/lcd with such a bright light source (ie a window) behind it because the light will leak into the back of the set and degrade the quality of your picture.

turn your sub with the bass port facing towards the corner of the room for the best bass effects.

Thanks for that. :) Have you got one the same?

I'll move the speakers. They were that close in the shop though. Not much I can do about the window. I have blinds and they're always half shut anyway - there won't be any direct sunlight on it. That window came out brighter in the photo than it does in real life. Have you seen the Panasonic brochure? The TV backs onto a huge wall made of glass! We're going to move it onto the wall next year anyway, after we redecorate.

What direction do I put the sub in? Do I turn it round? I don't know where the bass port is. :o There's a microphone too. I think you place it where you're sitting and it configures the speakers so you get the best sound..or something..I don't know lol

not got the same one, it just what I do for a job :)

On the sub there will be a big "hole" - point this hole towards the corner of the room. It can make a big difference to the bass effects.

I don't like surround sound since I had it once and was watching a scary movie and in the movie someone was knocking on the window's upstair's (ghosty movie) and it felt like someone knocking on my window and didn't half get me...so I unplugged it and it's never been on since...lol:rotfl:

I am about to order sky plus to replace our video and ordinary sky, with our new HD telly coming after that. Can anyone tell me how long between ordering Sky+ or Sky HD it came? I have asked the question on Sky's website but they are ignoring me.I resent paying to phone up their expensive 0870 number, when you can do most things on the net.

Then again it may well depend on which area you live in.

Have you thought about mounting it on the wall?
We have our on the chimney breast. We chanelled out a line of plaster & have burried the wires in it & replastered & painted over, so all you see is a screen floating on the wall, the bracket & wires are hidden.

thanks...panasonic gosh cost a fortune...very nice though...:Dthanks I may phone them in december when I want the box...don't see the point in phoning until I actually want it...thanks cw:D

We got the Pioneer in Currys on offer for £1,300 (42") & its susposed to be the best plasma on the market, according to hubby. I wanted the Phillips Ambilight with the soft coloured back light, but hubby wouldn't have it & all the guys in Currys were backing him up that the Pioneer was the better.

I ordered it last week, and it was fitted on Tuesday - so about 5 days.

Kim, we are thinking of wall mounting it, but we're getting the walls replastered next year and would do that at the same time. I have a back boiler in the chimney breast right now and we plan on getting rid of that.

My mum and dad came in just after we got it. Mum put her ear next to the back speaker to see if she could hear anything - just as I put a Bad Boys dvd (loud!) She just about jumped out of her skin. :D
  • been playing around with this recently :

with a decent amp it will set you back about 10 grand, but it is about as close to the real cinema experience as you will get....

as long as you spend another 10 grand on the speakers that is. There are some really lucky people out there - imagine - 30 grand on a home cinema setup. For one room. And then they entrust it all to me to set it up for them !
