Hotels in Hong Kong

Hi All,
I'm just about to make a hotel booking in Hong Kong and wondered if I booked through a booking website (like Lastminute or Expedia) will the rates include the service charge and tax, or am I going to get billed for them when I get to Hong Kong or check out?
The reason I ask is when looking at the hotels own pages the nightly rate is sometimes cheaper than the other websites but when I go through to book it jumps up as has tax and service charge added on and then generally becomes more expensive than the UK booking websites.
Thanks

Perhaps check the small print on the website, and if it isn't clearly stated that they're included, then they probably aren't.

Do not know what dates you are considering or hotel class, but I have used this site and found it very good. I just checked a sample booking and it came back with 10% as the extras before the payment, but they do seem to have some good deals for paying them direct.
    Worth a look!!

Have you decided on a hotel? We found the YMCA was fab.
  • Thanks for all the responses. We've still not fully decided on hotel - we've got a short list though ;)
We looked at YMCA but at almost £150 a night we'd found better deals (we think!!)
We've narrowed it to City Garden (upgrade to Club), LBP, 99 Bonham, Wesley OZO, Butterfly on Morrison, Whitfield 21 and the Ovolo in Kowloon. All totally different I know - but if anyone has any views on them please feel free to let me know!

When are you going? We didn't pay that much.
  • April - cheapest we could get it for was £149 a night

Did you check your dates on the hotel website?

Butterfly on Morrison looks nice, and good reviews.
Ozo as well, with good ratings.
Ovolo Kowloon does not seem to rate that well.
The above were from the Asia rooms website. Have only stayed in the Mandarin Oriental in HK, but it is a lovely vibrant city.
