We have spent the past 2 days removing it from one wall and have the rest of the room to do
We have used a scraper and lots of elbow grease so far.
The top layer came off very easily but the backing paper is left
Please advise!!!!!
You're not using steam?!!0 -

Just buy a steamer /borrow a steamer, it will bring joy to your wallpaper stripping life. Seriously, it makes it so much easier!0

I used a sponge last night and it came off alot easier!
I'm impressed with your tenacity but I found it much easier (walls and ceilings in a large knock through lounge diner) by scoring and steam0 -
I took my woodchip paper off ( and most of the plaster underneath it) with a steamer. Chatting to a neighbour ( who happens to be a painter and decorator) about it later, he told me that the best way to get woodchip off is to use a scraper to skim the surface of the woodchip I.E. Removing the chips. Then to spray/wash/wet the wallpaper with warm soapy water, and keep doing this till the wallpaper is saturated. Then remove with a scraper. He didn't recommend a steamer as it strips off the plaster underneath ( as we found out to our dismay).0

For scoring I use a Stanley maxi orbital wallpaper scorer, makes the job a lot easier and doesn't damage the plaster.0

The steamer won't damage the plaster as long as you don't have it over the same area for too long - keep it moving. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0
