I haven't answered some of the questions because I embarrassingly told the store manager that I know my legal rights. I said they need to come on this website and find out the facts about consumers rights.
I've had some really good advice from this site. The answer is yes its a phillips IPL machine. Please don't jump to conclusions that I am being difficult.
These machines have broke on me twice. I have not misused them.0 -

OK, so if you can answer the questions here honestly, then if they read them (which is highly unlikely), you have nothing to worry about.
Shops are used to people coming in saying "I know my rights" and take it with a pinch of salt.
It's not about embarrassment, it's about getting the facts right and working out how to get a solution based on them.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -

It has a two year warranty. Get in touch with Philips. Costs you nothing.0 -
WTFH Really good points thank you. I am going to answer honestly. I have no faith in this machine. It cost a lot of money and has proven to be unreliable twice. I don't want a repair, I want a refund. The shop keeper was going to replace the machine when I first visited the shop but her supervisor refused to give a refund or replacement.
I wasn't convinced so I took it to the same retailer (different location) and they were going to give a refund but I need to go back for it so hopefully I won't have to go and get any reports carried out. The person who dealt with my first complaint was damn right rude. She quoted their company policy but no other shop member had any idea about this policy. No other staff member in the 2nd shop quoted a company policy either.
I checked on their website too and there was no mention of a company policy stating guarantee's expire with them after 1 year which made me suspect if she was actually giving me the right information.
visidigi I am really grateful for your advice too
Hopefully the next time I post it will be me announcing my refund. If I still don't get one I will contact phillips directly. Thanks again0 -

I do hope you do get a refund, I really do.
But please remember that you have had twenty months use, so you may be offered a partial refund. I know you have told us it has been broken and unused for a long while, but all the time you have not reported a problem the retailer can reasonably assume there is no problem.
Whatever happens, remember to report back.0 -
so what happened?0
