Orange charging after contract ended

I have recently had a letter from the collectors agency via orange. I had a 2 year contract that ended may 2013. I obviously thought it had ended automatically, when the other day I get a bill for £250 from orange. No other contact from orange atall about this outstanding payment they just left the contract to carry on and iv changed banks since so it's just built up. They have not put the contract on hold or anything pending the first missing payment and now expect me to pay up. They have not contacted me at all regarding this issue and as I say suddenly the collectors are involved.
It is stated a 2 year contract and the reckon in my T&Cs it says they carry on charging unless I cancel it my self. Iv never herd of this before its not a rolling contract and they never told me this when I took the contract out.
Please can some one HELP me with these con artist ???

It's not a fixed term contract, it's a minimum term contract and it will carry on until you cancel it. If you didn't cancel then I'm afraid you owe the money.
You say you have never heard of it before but it is the way all the telecommunication companies work.
You could always phone them and explain your situation, but be polite and calm about it. Anything they offer you will be goodwill and if you start ranting and raving then their willingess to help out will be dramatically reduced!

They're quiet correct, the T&C's state its a 2 year minimum term. After that its becomes a 30 rolling contract. Its all there.
You don't have a leg to stand on, pay them and move on, you will already have a black marks on your credit file because of this...0 -
What do you seriously expect Orange to do at the end of each customer's 24-month contract? Cut people off and terminate the service?0
