How to find a school friend

I have ancestry membership if you want to send me her name and birth year. I will look and see if I can find a marriage, but if she has a common name it will be like looking for a needle in a haystack. The area where she was born and the area she moved to would probably help too.0

Why not post a note on RootsChat.com, my Husband has done this several times, and you would be amazed how quickly someone responds. Just give as much information as you have.
You have to register first but it is entirely free.
Hope that helps

Roots Chat will not allow you to look for living people. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0

Also on FreeBMD don't put too much information in search, less is more, although if you were born John Smith expect loads of hits.
I looked into their faq and our area isn't online yet

Oh dear I am sorry, I didn't realise. Needless to say Husband is discovering family tree.
My apologies.

Google her name in quotes (eg "Jane Doe"). That will only bring up exact matches (if you're not aware of that already).
Also click on google images after looking on the web.
My ex used to date someone when at Uni. She was trying to find him and wrote to his parents' house (30 years later nearly!). They still lived there and passed the letter on. No harm in trying that route! Most of my friends' parents still live in the same house as when I knew them at school!

Cranky40 was wonderful and looked up info for me. I now have her parents and siblings full names (prior to marriage). I can't find married name as they moved just over the border to Scotland and apparently I need anothe site for that. However I wrote to her old house today and will email our old school this evening.
Thank you everyone for spurring me on

Yes Scotland is different, this is the website you need but I don't know what you will find or if they charge.
