Wage incentive "course"? (6 month JSA mandatory)

  • Could you find a pt weekend job so you're no longer having to sign on and follow their rules? 10 hours at minimum wage would cover what you get now on JSA. It would leave you with the whole week free.

Are there any apprenticeships or intern positions in your field?

I agree. I have tried applying for part time secretary or retail jobs. Never even got a rejection back (whereas I am at least getting interviews for the degree requiring roles). I think they realise I would just leave as soon as something better comes up? Or perhaps they even want experience in that, because the field is so competitive? I don't know.

There will be a lot of competition for admin and secretarial roles.

What about bar work or catering assistant. Are there any hotels near you that need weekend staff? Or any busy catering agencies that could find you weekend placements?

What about care agencies to see if there is weekend work available.

Some places might want you work a few shifts during the week, but you'd still have most of mon-fri to concentrate on looking for a job that you really want.

It could be that moving is the only long term solution.

If you do live in Cumbria what about Sellafield? They pay really well and have graduate jobs.
