Post Office or Sainsbury's

I'm looking at saving some money for 2 years and found the Post Office Online "Bond" and the Sainsbury's Online account.
Although the Post Office offers a better interest rate than Sainsbury's the reviews for the Post Office aren't that good and reviews seem to be better for Sainsbury's.
I've searched on the MSE website for reviews and it seems that the PO bank reputation is not that great, for example, a recent comment from isofa: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=64262253&postcount=18

Is Sainsbury's any better?
Is the Sainsbury's website easy to use with decent security?
Have you had any issues with transferring money out?

Any help or comments appreciated.

TIA

I have previously used the PO when they had attractive rates.

Didn't have any problems with their website or their service.

The only minor downside was the 3 day lag in moving money to/from my main bank account. This was clearly detailed at the time so I was aware of it.

    What about Tesco?

Have you looked at Shawbrook ?

It seems that even Shawbrook has its problems.

  • Never had any trouble with Sainsbury Bank. Don't know about their CS as never had to contact them. Website is easy to use with the same level of security I get from Lloyds etc.

Based on my experience of them I would recommend.

Another vote of confidence for Sainsbury's Bank. The website is not sophisticated but works well enough. I've only used their telephone CS once and it was good. One of the things I like about them is that, although they have reduced their rates on instant access, it is still above what new applicants can get. Not often that loyalty is rewarded these days.

I cant comment on the Post Office or Sainsbury's Bank as haven't used them myself.

But if I was currently on the look out for a 2 year fixed rate savings bond, I would be inclined to go with FirstSave (2 Year Fixed Rate Bond 16th Issue @ 2.35%):

I have used FirstSave a few times for FRB's and can say I am happy with the service I received and would recommend them.

Thanks everyone, I've opened a Sainsbury's online account, the web interface is easy to use. Only minor niggle is the security/log on process, it could be improved for better security.
