Carpet in the Garage? Pros/cons

Buying a house at the moment and it has quite a nice sized integral garage. Not massive, but big enough to comfortably fit a car in with space at the back for fridge freezer etc.
But the floor is carpeted. Now I'm not certain of the pros/cons of having the carpet. Or any other alternative flooring for that matter. Partner's father put Lino in his.
I suppose insulation wise it's good. But I'm not sure how it'll cope when car is being put in in winter.
Any thoughts? Would you replace it? What with?

Holds damp and dirt.
Rubber matting if you want to use it as a workshop or painted concrete for a car.0 -
I have never come across carpet in a garage. Where the previous owners using it as a garage or as an extra room, like a play/games room or a gym etc. hence when there is carpet down?
I agree with above, concrete (painted or not) for parking a car in.If my posts have random wrong words, please blame the damn autocorrect not me0 -
As i do car maintenance carpets in a garage would be a pain. Even if you're driving a car back from somewhere muddy or wet it would be a bit of a pain.0

Does anyone park their car in their garage anymore???

Many of the houses down same street have converted their integral garages into extra living rooms. I'd just be intending keeping fridge/freezer in there, washing machine and then having the rest of the space free for car overnight in winter.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Car in, carpet out.
Carpet is if you want to use the garage as storage/play space... not for keeping vehicles with wet/damp, oil, potential for petrol to seep in .... and all sorts of nasty smells soon occurring.0 -

Going back to #2 has anyone successfully painted a garage floor?
Have tried twice , spent a fortune on a 2 step formula and it still failed.0 -
